Hwo use this in the year 07?

My old sienix-Laptop is still running Win98, and I remember several guys in different boards who are still running it, too.
Actually, Win98 was one of the Best Windows-Versions ever released (one of the most stable)

I have never seen a stable Windows (I even managed to crash WfW 3.11 ), but of all win9x, 98 was the most stable and there for most used. I also never remembered a day in school were there wasn't a Win2k or Win95-Computer crashed, but only few were the three win98 we had got down. But everyone has it's own experiences

I had windows 98 SE. It was more stable than windows 95, but it did have a crappy start-up screen, sometimes the ctrl+alt+del funcion would go dead, and many non-Microsoft programs coused illegal operations.

I had windows 98 and windows ME. ME was godawful...

Yeah, I had this, too. ME really sucks.
Though, my mother still use it, since we don't have any copy of WinXP remaining, and the Setup is much easier then the one of Win98 (we only have a update-version).

Well, ME was supposed to be the most ultimate (?) user friendly Windows EVER. It would have worked too, but it sucked.

When did they said that? Properly before there was Whistler/XP.
I remember that ad-stuff while the setup (we reinstalled it so much it burned in), but actually, ME really had what was promised (there was never a word about being super stable or super userfriendly )

Little Wizard guy in the setup? Did I miss anything?
I installed it a short while ago in my VMWare (Virtual Machine to run other OSes on top of a Host OS, e.g. Linux), and there wasn't any wizard, and no tutorial.

The Setup of Win95 and Win98 was mostly Bluescreen-like

no i remember there was that wizard guy in the setup. Now that i think clearly he is that Merlin guy in MS Word. The little office helpers. I remember him, a tutorial on the easyness of ME, a tan, light yellowish background, and pictures of happy people. Maybe its the insane amount of caffeine I injested last night since i pulled an all-nighter on my science fair project, but I think I am remembering correctly.
I had the coffee machine in my room and I drank a pot and a half of coffee. Finished around four and couldnt sleep anymore. Im so tired

Poor guy. But at least now I knwo there are more caffeine addicted people here besides me

In the german setup, the background was black, blue and white, there was some ad like talking about how kewl ME is (your tutorial) and there were pics of happy people, too.
Only Merlin is missing. Perhaps the German Setup differs heavily from the english one

I have (running in VMWare an my Notebook), and a friend of me has it to (in Qemu on his MacBook).
To bad we hadn't had this discussion earlier, or I would have provided a screen shot.
mmm....
perhaps it's still possible, making a new, temporary VM...

Sure it is. All my friends who tried Vista (except one, but this one has another version than the others) are complaining about the troubles Vista makes and how stupid several things are soluted
Though, I have to admit that M$ learned a thing or another (graphical Setup is Standard in most bigger Linux Distros).

Perhaps I'll test it inside VMWare or something, to get an own opinion.
