Someone suggested this idea to me.
Quote
1. When a server admin decides to ban someone, this ban is sent as a complaint to the BlackList server
2. The BlackList moderators will be taking care about those complaints, if the complaint is fair they'll accept it to be added to the BlackList bans, otherwise they just reject it.
3. Every server will be synchronizing their bans this way, more security, yay!

What do you people think?

Also: I still need more moderators! Please people, join the network!

1.I think it'd be a good idea unless if that ban is a free-ban or ban because they violated a specific rule and not for speed-cheating reason then it will not be as a complaint. That's my thought though.
2. Of course, the moderators will take care of this network as much as possible and for the complaint too is fair or not.
3.Not 100% but still a bit security is indeed necessary.

Conclusion: I'm with. At least I have a task like this to do something since I didn't received any new bans list from other people for now, so I can do my moderator activity. Also these users can report the banned players using the Sample form that's posted in the thread description here, right?

It was supposed to be an automatic complaint system, every single ban registered would be sent as a complaint and later the BlackList moderator would check if this is actually a deserved ban or not. Otherwise it just gets deleted from this list. Your idea is not bad but I'd have to make filters to know if this is actually a complaint or just a specific server-rule ban.

Yeah they can. But it's not being reliable right now, no one is complaining as you can see, so I thought we could use the previous complaint method I mentioned.

@user Starkkz: I salute you in your efforts. This projects is a great idea.

I can confirm Rewards servers were shut down this last winter and may not be returning. I'd love to host again, but it's quite stressful dealing with constant cheaters and daily DoS attacks, even when the server was empty lol. I'm still (slowly) scripting a new Rewards system so who knows.

BTW You should really consider a web interface for moderators instead of a Windoze app. It's dirt cheap for a small VPS with a lightweight nginx web server. If you just don't want to work with PHP (I know I don't), I recommend checking out Lapis. That would let you code it all in Lua.

Let me know if you need any help/advice.

@user VaiN: I'm probably going to make a web interface but I'd need someone to work it because I'm not really a PHP coder and that Lapis thing looks like a complete new scripting language. I'm kind of lazy to learn things lately.

Looks like when I connect to the BlackList network, it says the connection to the server is lost and it's refuses to connect. It would be better if I PMed you but I want to know if is just me or it does happen to other moderators of the blacklist.

Are you doing a maintenance to the network?
