Hello Community,

I would like to get some advice from you.

Well, currently i having a PC with next details:

ASUS-H81M-C (MicroATX)
Intel Core-i3 4330
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz
nVIDIA GTX 660 OC 2GB DDR5
Creative X-FI Xtreme Audio PCI
FSP 350W Power Supply
And a microATX pc case.
(More information not required for my problem.)

Well, i planning to upgrade to i5.. (i7 is cost too much for me, and i am not kind a YouTuber, who requiring so much power, like i7)

So i planned the next ones:

i5-4690 or lower.
nVIDIA GTX960 4GB version or nVIDIA GTX970 (its default 4 GB) But this also cost much more than 960.
2x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866MHz

Well, there are some problems.

- As you can see my Power Supply is low, i mean its only 350W which already low for my currently config. And next config uses more power. So i should replace that immediately. The 960 GPU is requires less power than currently. ( i didnt planned to upgrade this. so its requires more cash.)

- I know its kind a strange thing, but i dont like every VGA exterior. So thats why i wanted Gainward one, which would be very nice to me. But its requires 3 Slot in my PC case. and since i using a PCI soundcard it wouldn't fit into it.
(i must use that card since i have 5.1 speaker system.)

Thats why i planned to buy instead 970 but i heard some problem about that. 1 its doesn't use 4GB at all.. only 3.5GB

Anyway its only 2 slot but, maybe if the card is too big, i also should buy a new pc case. and a new power supply, too. Thats why i should buy 960 instead, but thats doesnt fit into my PC because of the 3 slot.. this is my problem..

So please advice me with some solution...

If you wanna play actual games, then get a GTX 970 (4GB).My brother has a 970. It's (very) good, also the best gaming graphic card but I'm not sure, and silent.

There's also a 'Palit Geforce GTX 970 Jetstream', which is cheaper than the 970. Correct me, if I'm wrong!

You probably won't notice any (big) difference when upgrading from i3 to i5. So if money is an issue you should consider to keep your current CPU (which is still pretty good).

For the video card: Keep in mind that more memory doesn't necessarily mean better performance. You just have to have ENOUGH memory. Most (maybe all?) modern games still just need 2GB to run smoothly with highest settings. 2 additional GB of VRAM are usless if they aren't used. You greatly benefit from more memory though if you're playing games with a multi screen setup or if your screen has an insanely high resolution. Also you're better prepared for future games...

If you're not using multiple screens for playing you may still consider to stick to the 2GB version which seems to be lower and should fit, right?

@user Pehlivan: It's definitely not the best one. It has that huge glitch with performance problems when memory usage goes beyond 3.5gb - but that probably doesn't occur in most real world cases because less memory is used. Also there are several faster (but also more expensive) cards on the market.

Well, i dont know have you ever heard about GTA V, but its uses more than 2GB for hight settings. And i would like to run it on Very High 1080p 60fps if possible. Thats why i want 4GB. otherwise i dont upgrade my GPU (may the future games will use 4GB later, so also would be great to have a stable system for some months or years.)

Currently i running under these on 1080p with 30FPS

http://prntscr.com/79bhnj

Nagyon magas means Very High
Magas means High
Normal = normal

But i would like very high textures with anti-aliasing..

@user Marcell: GTA V is actually really nicely optimised. I can run it with 40-60 FPS with a mix of high and very high settings on my GTX 750 Ti, which is 2GB. You don't need 4GB of VRAM, but yeah, it'd be nice.

Also, that in-game memory slider in the graphics slider doesn't mean much. It's red for me (supposedly consuming more than my GPU's memory) and the games runs smoothly.

@user medeiros: Yeah, it has a good performance. Not like GTA IV...

But I would advice you, to play on high-settings and not on very high-settings.

@user Pehlivan: I am playing on 1440x900, that's why I can run it smoothly on near-very high settings.

Once I get a proper 1080p monitor, I will probably be forced to push some settings down or settle for a resolution lower than the native one.

And yes, I guess this is still kind of related to the thread since the OP is talking about upgrading his PC, most specifically to play GTA V.

64GB is not enough for an SSD. That's a Windows-installation without any programs. 128GB is a minimum, imo. Keep in mind, that you should leave 10-20% of the SSD unallocated so it doesn't wear out fast (there's a limited amount of write cycles on SSDs).
For the graphics card: I'd wait for the next gen to release, there's some nice stuff coming along the way.

Get a HDD and you've got double the memory for the same price. On boot is a tad slower though, but who cares. No mac users pl0x.

I dont install any program, and its pretty enough for a base Windows 7 or 10 installation...

Next gen will be cost so much.. Titan X also cost a lot..

And i dont need HDD, since i dont get a new PC, i just upgrading it. I have a great motherboard already with 2TB HDD.. its pretty enough.
