I have just started a new project about a Reef fish simulator, as a kid i played some cool fish based games, one called Feeding Frenzy, which i'm most inspired by.

And so you play as several species of sea creatures, such as -
-Reef sharks
-Reef fish (butterfly, angel, ect.)
-Barracuda
-Minnow
-Tuna

and things like them...

I havnt done much so far, mostly just ideas and basic world design

here are two images of the first two terrain examples-

Example 1

Example 2

as you see, i have the basic seabed... i have NO IDEA how im going to make a reef... so im not going to bother ;P

i have a few reference images for fish but im not very good at texturing... so we'll see how that goes...

Please let me know what i can improve on, what i should add, or if you wish to help me in some way...

I Appreciate it.

That might work, thanks for the suggestion... as for sea monster, sorry I only want legit sea creatures... but think about it a 6" minnow trying to hide from a 12 ft reef shark isn't that monstrous?

It's looking pretty good, but those shadows are pretty jarring. What engine are you using for this project? It looks like it doesn't support binary alpha in the shadow maps, or is using shadow volumes ( which are rather outdated by now ). I wish you the best on your project.

Its in Google sketch up, so thats why their outdated, and this was only a preview of the sea bed, so shadows weren't too important

I intend to use Unity 3D
-my biggest problem Is I having heard back from my coder in a month... so I may have to do a bit of tutorials, or find a new coder...

I wouldn't disagree, but i have 4 years Google sketchup experience and no experience with any coding besides basic stuff in Game Editor using C#, and lua in Carnage contest (very, very little experience.)

what would you suggest DannyDeth?

If you plan on using Unity, I think you'd be okay on your own. Only game logic would need to be programmed, a lot of it is WYSIWYG. I suppose if you are REALLY bad at programming ( and give it a couple months, btw ) then you would need someone else. If you absolutely need someone, make sure that person is as experienced as you, and also wants to make this project a reality. People who don't contribute creatively to the project will tend to grow bored, so ask their opinions and take their suggestions as much as possible.
