I removed the file. I didn't check the link for viruses but it's not allowed to upload just a link to a file without uploading the actual file to the file archive.

Please always use a virus scanner for all files you download from the internet. Unreal Software can't guarantee that user-created content is virus-free. Use always at your own risk. There is a note about that on the download page as well.

How about creating a virus scan before uploading files like 4shared.com ?

It would never work 100% and people would still complain.

The best thing is to just be careful when you download anything. Which is for every site, not just Unreal Software.

I could do that but it still wouldn't replace a good anti virus software. Everyone should have one. At least Windows users. Also it would not have helped in this case because the file has not even been uploaded to the file archive. It has just been linked.

ProTip: By paying 40€ you can make any virus undetectable by any AntiVirus, so a virus scanner could only affect script kiddies (most threats in US.de).

@user sixpack: I havn't seen anyone paying 40€ just to post a virus to random people. Also, opening an application which is meant to be a script makes you stupid.

On the contrary, I've seen many people paying up to 120€ for that. You might want to edit the script and double click it..

I would never pay anyone for that, just because I can do it by myself. But user sixpack is telling the truth, there are some idiots who do it.

@user DC: A message such as "Detected X virus(es), use it at your own risk" should be fine just before you download the file.

It's not like that, .lua or .txt files have their own logo and so does applications so it won't be hard at all to find the virus.
