Thanks for the replies. I've done all of what you've said and I've spent the last 2 days trying to get it to work. I've been looking at vids on how the iron should look before you add the coal dust and the problem is that mine simply isn't turning red. It just stays the same colour.

How long is it supposed to take before it glows red?
I fuelled my forge with nearly 500 charcoal and 50 coal nuggets, and the iron still didn't glow...

Is it supposed to turn into a nugget, or stay as a bar, when it gets hot enough?

EDIT: I decided to delete the game, download it all over again, install it and start a fresh island. This one feels different and makes me think that there was definitely something wrong with the other one, even though it was exactly the same version that I downloaded

There might have been some corruption during the initial download, or I might have screwed up the installation somehow.

I'll post an update once I know more.

errrm...you do not put a iron "bar" in the forge ...you put an "iron nugget" in the forge. When it heats up it does not turn into anything, it simply turns red-hot making it a "soft iron nugget". You then sprinkle it with coal dust while still red-hot in the forge...it will turn white making a steel nugget.

a iron bar is made from combining a "soft" iron nugget and hammer and making a iron bar. The iron bar is then combined with the hammer to make other iron tools or weapons such as a pickaxe head.

once you make a "steel nugget" you can also then make a steel bar the same way as making an iron bar.

TOTAL EDIT: I fixed it. Turns out that it was the installation of the original game that was causing the problem.

When I downloaded it, I chose to download the Zip file instead of the setup.exe, which I apparently did the second time too. I didn't even see the setup option and I just installed it, installed the mod and voila! It works! The iron nuggets actually appear as nuggets on the forge instead of bars. I can't believe that happened. I'm gonna get in touch with the S2 website and let them know that they should take a look at the Zip file.

Thanks for trying to help. I eventually found the problem after 3 solid days of trying. Maybe now I can actually enjoy the game

I seem to be having an issue with sprinting where the game lags incredibly hard for no apparent reason. I skimmed through the topic and saw a similar issue, which appeared to be fixed, but for some odd reason I'm being affected by what I assume to be the same thing. I have a decently modern computer so I have no FPS issue anywhere other than sprinting, I'm just completely at a loss as to why it's happening.

you can try to turn down the graphics in option, start by unchecking MOTION BLUR.

Then try each of the STUFF: effects off

or

re-download the game, it could have gotten corrupted through download from mediafire.

i have no other idea why 2 players would have this issue and no other reports. Your computer my have a virus or something running in the background that only interferes when your sprinting? idk, or your RAM memory is low and being used near 100% when sprinting? idk

or try right clicking TheSurvivalist.exe goto Properties and run in COMPATABILITY mode for another system? like xp?

I actually have a similar issue but it's not so bad now that I've turned the settings down a bit. My graphics card is an old GeForce GT220 but the rest of my computer is better.

When sprinting, time seems to slow down a little, but I don't get any stuttering, except for a regular, single stutter and it can get frustrating when I'm trying to hunt. I also get the stutter when walking.

I've noticed that it only stutters when it's loading more of the landscape in the distance. I don't know if there's a fix for this.

My graphics options are set as follows:

Resolution: 1440x900 (changed in the settings.cfg file, so thanks to the person who told us about this)
Color Range: 32 bit
View Range: Very Far
Landscape Details: High
Water Details: Medium
Sky Details: Medium
Effects Details: High
Grass: Medium

2D Postprocessing: Off
Light Effects: Off
Wiggle In Wind: Off
Fog: Off

Motion Blur: Off

I can increase these settings without much of a difference in FPS, but I prefer to keep them like this due to my old graphics card (the poor old thing has taken a beating over the years )

I've tried putting every setting on as low as they can go, and I've never actually enabled motion blur. Max or not, the game runs fine unless I happen to sprint. It's incredibly bizarre because the game takes up no more than 15% of my CPU, and I've made sure I didn't have anything else sucking up power. There isn't a memory usage increase while I sprint, either. I also highly doubt that I have a virus that could be interfering, but I'll definitely give that a look into.

The only thing I could think of is that maybe the game isn't very fond of 64 bit systems, perhaps?

i would re-download the game and copy your save over.

i run on 64 bit myself. do not have the issue.

only things i can suggest then is turn down how far you can see(view range)...if it is graphics loading slow in the distant view.

one more possible solution is go directly to your graphics card/graphics setting in your computer and set the slider/or setting to BEST PERFORMANCE rather then BEST APPEARANCE...should access this through your ControlPanel/GraphicsCard/AdvancedSetting.

So i started playing, but instead of playing right from beginning i clicked load. (dont judge me!!) then i saw that i had a shelter, food and water, weps, and a campfire, with a top on it. i ALSO saw that to my right was a pirate with a gun, and to my left was tribes with a lotta watchtowers. i didn't move in fear of dying instantly, so what do i do now? start over and click new game, or continue the load and do something? pls reply quick

idk...the autosave default is a big island on hard mode. It is simply a default load option. If you are a new player I would restart a new Random Game, pick the size island you want, and pick easy or normal mode, until you learn the game and item combinations/crafting. Doubt you will survive long on hard mode unless you have played a couple times.

Once your playing your own game and SAVE your game...then the LOAD option will list your SAVE, when your ready to load it later, and continue playing your same game.

Only i do not recall having saved my game as an autosave...if i forgot to delete it and zipped it up this way, then yes you might have a already played game happening. Usually before i zipp up the new download and post it... i remember to delete all my saves and then save a big map/hard mode fresh game, in case a player does exactly what you did. Start a new game and it will auto save every time you sleep...or if you manually click SAVE, then you can pick a new name for your save..

I've been fiddling around with settings, I've even tried swapping out my graphics card with my previous one, and re-downloading the game multiple times. No matter what I do it always seems to stutter immensely whenever I hold down whatever key I bind to sprint, even when standing perfectly still while using the water or something to gauge fps. Other than that, the game is perfectly playable provided I never sprint though, so there's no need to go out of your way looking for a fix.

Yeah, i had the same 'sprint problem' from the very beginning, but i don't sprint at all, so i even forgot about it
The fps also drops, when i look straight downwards (e.g. try to loot fly, or other small insect). But that doesn't disturb me either.

I have no idea why sprinting/lag is only affecting a few computers and not all/most. I will keep looking into as we move forward.

its working...i double checked the script and also i have them spawning on my test map.

You have a rooster near the chickens right? Also the eggs spawn UNDER the chicken, so you have to take your net and pick up the chicken to get the eggs.

there is only a 2 in 20 chance for a chiclet to spawn each day, but eggs is 6 in 20 chance each day...so yeah you shoulda had eggs by now, unless there is no rooster near?

try picking up the chickens and look under them? or you need a rooster near?

old chickens? WHERE??

rickie,,:)

look in your Diary under Crafting "liquid". rock+leaves or rock+vines for a couple ways. Gotta have a empty bottle though.

you might want to tick at the top too, Information/Operations and check them out too.
