Well I want to buy a new laptop and I am considering between http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-A53SD-ES71-15-6-Laptop-Black/dp/B00713DPNS/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

and... http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-dv6-7010-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B0089KDD5C/ref=zg_bs_565108_67

I am not too good with specs of PC's and I am wondering which one you think will be better for running games (skyrim, mass effect, gta iv...pretty much any game)

I am leaning towards the second laptop but I am not sure..

Thanks!

You probably want at least 3.0ghz for your processor and at least 4gb video memory. As for ram, 6 to 8gb is good.

Probably want to prepare to go on to 1000 dollars if you are wanting to play any game that is going to release this or next year.

However if this is your price range, I'd just recommend the second laptop.

Gaming laptop? LOL.

Get a PC bro, they're cheaper and you can upgrade the parts in it easier than the limited choices you have with laptops.

I suggest alienware gaming pc. They have laptops also.
The only reason you should actually want to have a laptop is because you want to take it places. Otherwise choosing a laptop is useless. If you are going to be traveling I suggest on getting a highly durable laptop. There is a word for those type, but Ido not remember it.
I personally prefer to have a desktop.
But since the topic is about laptops, then do choose one with atleast 6 gb of ram and i5 intel core proccessor or something else with 3.0 or higher of proccessor. If you want to have the laptop to be able to run upcoming releases like Crysis 3 I would highly suggest getting a laptop with 4gb of video memory like kaesuruto said before. You can decided. I also suggest looking in on where you could have a laptop custom made.

Shut up, no, Alienware is shit. Expensive Mexican components that you can buy individually cheaper.

A friend of mine recently bought a gaming rig from Alienware, it's one of the latest models, and cost him about 2 and a half thousand dollars, and it's only got duel cores and 8 gigs of ram. I bought my PC custom made 2 years ago and it's got quad core CPU with 8 threads and 12 gigs of ram.

Alienware computers and laptops are fucking terrible, lol.

We all have our opinions.

It's not an opinion, it's fact. Alienware is shit. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you are less of an idiot and the more you'll know about computer hardware.

What would you guys suggest, when I say gaming laptop I just mean something that will run the games at a reasonable setting and not have lag, my requirements are under 6 pounds and under 1000 dollars I know this is not what you would consider a gaming laptop but I just want something that can run the game.

1000 dollars

That's your budget?

Gaming Laptop? Hahaha no. Maybe a PC if you get fairly cheap hardware, but a gaming laptop is usually 2k and over so you're out of luck.

Seriously get a gaming PC.

Bitchplease.

+ You don't have to buy a monitor
- The monitor you get is small and pretty bad quality

+ You can take it everywhere
- You have to power it and internet is a bitch outdoors

+ Wireless internet connection
- Wireless internet is slow as fuck

+ You always get some kind of laptop case
- When your laptop falls it's broken, case or not

Lolno.

As Majateka said, for 1000 dollars you better buy gaming PC.

There are some "Configurators",where you are choosing details which you will use. It is really useful, you can choose your own details.

Or,you can build it by yourself. YouTube might help you.

And,about Laptop - yes,the normal gaming laptop will cost a lot of money. If you want gaming laptop - you might go for Asus,Dell,or Acer. They must have good laptop for around ~1000,I am sure.
But still,PC is better way.

Ultra facepalm to you sir. Denying Alienware as a good gaming company but suggesting Dell as a good one.

Now you ask, is there something wrong?
The answer is yes.

Alienware is owned by Dell.

Now please if you don't know the subject correctly please don't talk.

I must facepalm at you. I know, that Alienware is part of it,but it has different production. You can buy 1800$ Gaming Laptop from Alienware,or,go for 800$ Dell Laptop. Of course they will be different, but this guy wants Laptop for 1000$. And Dell Laptop will be still playable on some games.

And,Alienware is like Apple : It looks cool and expensive, but it isn't even good.

Edit :
Just saying,Alienware sucks. You can easily buy the same Laptop, but for much smaller amount of money. Of course it won't be the same, but it will be okay for gaming. Believe me. Just because there are a lot of features like Glowing Keyboard,Tons of features, and some other needless shit it costs like 2 times bigger.

I lol'd. I KNOW the subject. The guy wants 1000$ laptop for games. Not ~1500$ glowing shit-laptop. That's the subject of topic.

You were just denying Alienware as a good laptop/pc gaming comapny. Which it's owned by Dell, therefore you're denying Dell as the same as Alienware. Get your facts straight.

And I'm laughing at you. You're recommending NORMAL DELL laptops, good luck for him trying to play his favourite games.

I can see how much he can enjoy with Intel graphics.
