I have this problem for a while now and it's getting on my nerves. Every time I tried to view a file in a folder, at random the explorer will crash. I tried searching online but nothing helps. Any help is appreciated.

Maybe just because he wants? Maybe he's a gamer or works with memory-hogging applications, who knows. Doesn't really matter.

I'm not really having any guesses. Any file in any folder, or just one file in one particular folder? Maybe, as much as I hate to say it, it's a virus.

I have a 64-bit OS.

I need it in order for Windows to recognize and use my 12 gigabytes of RAM.

But RamboDerp, why do you need 12 gigabytes of RAM? That's silly.

I need 12 gigabytes of RAM because I work with textures whilst also working with high-poly models in a real time environment.

Windows

That right there's the problem.

Stop that, Windows is fine as long as you know how to operate it correctly.

Maybe he wants to move with the times and not be restricted by the old-as-hell 32-bit word.

Or that.

Windows is a giant security hole with programmers behind it's development that are the figurative equivalent of hill-billies.

Put basically:
Using the NT kernel for pretty much every OS you produce since is just stupid. Well done Microsoft.

Hold up, my explorer crashed whenever I tried to view a file in a folder. No virus, I'm guessing the explorer is corrupted and I need to find a way to fix it.

I typed sfc /scannow in the command, it says it found the problem but could not fix it.

From a legit shop and not from some random guy. It was working very good until it started crashing about 5-6 months ago. It just annoys me when it crashes and needs restarting but I really need to find a way to fix this shit soon.

instead of restarting the PC, you can execute "explorer.exe" (Start>Execute>)

i found that it is a spyware, to solve it you need M.B.A.M (malware bytes anti malware, it is very good) good luck

I've had this problem before (not on my pc tho--on a 64bit one)...

Just use the command prompt to delete the file or folder.

Agree with @user Apache uwu: , write in the command prompt ATTRIB to see all files in the folder that you are in, use 'cd..' to back to the previous folder, use 'cd' <Name of the folder> to go to that folder, use DEL <Filename.typeoffile> to delete, use the command 'start <nameoffile.typeoffile>' to open a file (to see all commands type 'help')

I sometimes stop explorer.exe from working to make my desktop look phat.

But then, sadly. I must restart my computer.

People, explorer.exe is part of Windows. The hardware is not going to affect the problem whatsoever. ( Did I not already state that Windows was the problem? [trollface] )
