Okay, I don't expect this to go anywhere, but I feel strongly about this, so here goes.

DC, you have given us an amazing program with the generous freedom to alter it to our liking. I and many others are very grateful to you for this. I know it is not a priority for you to work on stranded 3, and I am not asking you to work on it.

But what DC has given us is the opportunity to use his base game and improve it amongst ourselves.

Wouldn't it be something if you all came together to make a massive mod? You all have wonderful skills and ideas. A lot of things individuals have been working on are incomplete. With a little help and encouragement these projects would not be so stressful and time consuming. Some people are more skilled in modeling, others in scripts. Who knows what you could come up with if you put the two together?

I'm thinking like HudaJan and Barbosa coming together with their "girlfriend" and "stranded babe" concepts- finding a woman stranded just like you and having to care for her to increase your relationship to girlfriend status and possibly having the option of having a child.

Lion_Hearted has created some awesome items in his mod.. the clay and bamboo items are wonderful!

Barbosa has made replacement animals that look amazing, although the death animation on the lions is incomplete..
Corvallis5 has made some awesome animals too. Moose, wolves, chickens. I only wish they were available. Now imagine if the two of them came together to work on the animals!

The way I see it, we could come together to improve the game. The possibilities are endless. I don't have much to offer at the moment as I am still studying scripts and have a lot to learn, and I don't expect anyone to agree to this, and I'm not asking. but I just wanted to throw the idea out there. Some cooperation and effort could turn out to be a beautiful thing. Maybe give it some thought?

Um, I think you have me mistaken for Barbosa.

I'm more for scripting then modelling and animating. My favorite scripts are the hunting script, and the rotting meat script.

thread stranded2 Massive Mod: the original "massive mod".

also if you were around here some longer you would know that this has been suggested multiple times but never did bring up anything big yet in most cases.

the problem simply is that most skilled people have their own projects to work on so they dont have the time to work on another project as well.

To Lion_Hearted:
Yes, I have downloaded and been playing your mod, and I like it a lot. I've been also using Barbosa's animal mods, and I can't tell you how daft I feel for mistaking one person's work for another's. I believe I've done that on three threads thus far and I'm really kicking myself for it. I now check about three times before I credit someone being sure I get it right. -.-'

To Hurri04:
I had a hunch it had been suggested before, and I expected the idea to be dismissed. And I wish I had been here longer and I would have been but I have just gotten the internet for the first time. I first got this game about a year ago by stealing my neighbor's internet, I was lucky to have downloaded it before her server kicked me off.

I understand most people have their own projects going and lack the time to do something big. I guess in my mind I was thinking that we could help each other out with our individual projects so the project is done faster but you guys already to that to a point. I love how you all try to correct each other's work through constructive criticism (besides the obvious cynics) it's a healthy way to develop your projects.

Like I said I just wanted to throw the idea out there. I'm not going to make a ton of threads/posts saying "Ooh I have an idea it would be totally cool if you did this (idea)!!! You should do it for me!!!" If I want something for the game that badly, I'm going to try to figure it out for myself and ask for advice when I'm stumped. So, please, don't take this as a request. I'm just so impressed by each individual's work here, and incomplete projects would be done faster with a team behind it.

But do as you please, I am looking forward to seeing what comes next! I downloaded the DeleD 3d program but I have yet to figure a damn thing out, haha. Keep doing what you are all doing, it's amazing!

(P.S. I cannot access the Massive Mod file download. The first link lets me download but it doesn't contain anything to be extracted. The second link is unavailable. It seems the website has been seized by the US federal court. Is there another link available?)

im sorry man this will never happen, just days ago I had the same Idea http://www.unrealsoftware.de/forum_posts.php?post=285310#jn

I would love for something like this to happen but the community of modders just don't see the sense in it! Also it is very hard for people who hardly know each other to work together, lots of cunusion about communication and such.

though there are many german mods that implemeant many of the things you are saying. Just its hard to get around the language barrier

edit: Builder 2-0 and Barbosa are not active on the sight anymore though HudaJan visited 5 days ago, hes definitly not modding anymore too bad Builder and Huda were some of the best modders around

And I didn't expect it to happen..
It is sad to see skilled people become inactive but some people have to move on to bigger better things in life. I don't hold it against them to not have the time to put in the effort. And sometimes after a while you lose interest in these sorts of things. I only wish I could learn how to mod and script. I'm working on it, slowly. -.-'

You can always learn how to merge stuff together.

I, for example, have kidnap mod as the base of my "main" S2, then I start adding stuff that I like from other mods into my S2.

It's not that hard for items/objects/units, just put the models and textures into the gfx folder and the script of the item/object/unit in the right notepad (you'll probably have to change the ID, it's also useful to keep your lists in the folder updated if you're going to add a lot of stuff).

Oh, about that..
Do I have to give it a consecutive number or can the ID be completely random?
I have kidnap mod on here for the time being but it lags way too badly. I didn't have that problem with Lion_Hearted'd mod, so I think I might just revert back to that. If I can figure it out I may be able to keep some items from Kidnap mod..? I have yet to look into it. =p

It probably lags because you sticked one mod over the other... That WON'T work.

1. Get your favorite mod, use it as a base.

2. let's pretend that your fav mod is kidnap but you like the deer in Lion_hearted's mod.

3. Grab the Deer's texture and model and put it in kidnap's gfx folder.

4. Go to "units" part in kidnap's folder and paste the deer's info, make sure you check for an unique ID.

The ID can be random, but I don't recommend that because there is a limited number of IDs you can put, I'd leave the IDs consecutive while keeping the list updated so you don't mess the IDs up when adding new stuff.

Try installing a fresh S2 game somewhere and toy around with the script of the objects and units, you'll probably learn a thing or two so you can start making your own stuff.

actually you can change that in the game.inf there are some lines of code like

limit_units=
limit_objects=

and you could make that t0 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 but I would not recommened that cuz it lags the game, only make the id limit larger when you run out of ID's.
To find open ID's download the mod viewer

Never used fancy tools like mod viewer myself, I usually just scavenge what catches my attention from a mod and put it in my main S2.

off topic:
@user lucas is stranded: could you upload your "main" s2 sometime?

thought the mod viewer does work really well for finding ids and such

There's nothing special about it, it's just kidnap mod with a bunch of stuff that I liked from other mods.

Only "unique" thing in there apart from a few items I made are probably the jeeps from a very old mod.

I actually started doing that as soon as I posted last time on this thread. I've taken the bamboo huts that are in the create a map and made them available to build in game play. I've also done so with the torch, fences, etc.. but had to give them random numbers because the numbers I was choosing seemed to have been taken. I'll figure out the next consecutive number to assign to them eventually, I'm just proud that I got them to work. I gave myself a terrible headache over it, actually But I'm going to have to start over because I've just been placing mod on top of mod then re-installing Stranded 2 on top of that to bring it to it's original state and I'm pretty sure that didn't work like I thought.

Oh, I also have the wooden house, circular saw, clay pan, and eggs, but I'm having problems with plank's ID. -.-'
(not asking for help- no offense it just confuses the hell out of me when people tell me what to do.)

Oh, speaking of which, can someone tell me how to cook the eggs on the clay pan? I select it and equip to hand, then go back to inventory, select the eggs and press "use" and it says "I've burned myself, I should use the pan next time" What am I doing wrong? Am I missing script somewhere?

Embarrassing that I didn't figure that out to begin with. -.-
Sometimes I wonder if I'm retarded.
Most people say I'm too hard on myself though.
