@user Divine: We are talking about a Valve game here. They created their own engine and they are selling it to other developers. It would be pretty embarrassing for them if they would use anything else than their own engine. So I'm sure that this must be the Source engine. Maybe with some improvements in the engine.

It's still going to use the Source Engine. The only difference will be in the graphics depending on what system you're playing CS:GO on (PC, PS3, etc)

Well it has good graphics, wonder if they're using frostbite engine or a custom one.

Ur serious? CS:GO compared to games with the frostbite engine looks garbage!

@user Divine: Dude. Oh my god, you obviously don't know much about VALVe.

They probably used a modified version of the Left 4 Dead 2 engine, hope they (re)add body viewing models. L4D1 had them, but they took them out in L4D2, It probably was some compatibility issue but I still question why. Can't wait for the game to come out, I'd love to use the SDK too, I wanna port my maps from CS:S to CS:GO

I'm reviving this as I was going to make a thread about it.
I'm a little bit late, but CS GO is on Steam for free until Monday morning! I'm playing it right now and so far liking it.
I am actually surprise I like it, but I feel Valve did a good work, emphasising on gameplay (which I praise the most), but with nice graphics.
It has some CoD-like stuff (I dislike CoD) like the ranks, but keeps common CS features (no stupid levelling or getting new weapons besides the ones you can buy, the maps, etc.).

Here's something I found out while playing Demolition (nice Gun Game + Classic mod combination): most, if not all, maps are based on L4D2 maps! I instantly noticed, because as you all know I'm an avid Left 4 Dead 2 player.
They have the same layout, but not of course identical (L4D2 ones are obviously destroyed and dark due to zombie theme). For example, Bank (CS GO) = Burger Tank (L4D2) [nice word play, Valve].

If this game has a low price on Steam Christmas sale, I'll DEFINITELY buy it.

@user medeiros: You're not the only one to notice this, VALVe did recycle maps. Although I do like how they pulled it off though.

Me too. I'm demo recording the maps from L4D2 and their CS GO equivalents for a comparison video I'll perhaps upload.
