Your mom is Linux. Windows PWN all OS's.

You also suck, y'know that, right?

Mac OS X is the best system. If you ask me, that is. An Apple computer is like a multimedia powerhouse, the dream of any artist.

Since Windows 7, Windows is far superior to Linux and mac OS X.
The plug&play ability of Windows, the amount of drivers available for it all beat Linux.

I've tried Ubuntu, OpenSUSE and every windows version since windows 95.

The software available for Windows beats the linux and mac osx software in every way.
I needed a nice music player, there is NONE for linux! I tried banshee, rythmbox ragnarok, but they're all shit compared to iTunes, Winamp, songbird etc.
People are also willing to create better software for Windows, because it's a bigger market.

Setting up a home server for my roommates was such a horror with linux.. With windows i just had to plug in the ethernet cable, and my external HDD and it was all set up!

Don't get me wrong, Linux has it uses too! When i'm on my laptop and i'm without a power supply, i usually boot in ubuntu because of less power consumption, longer battery life. Also ubuntu boots up a bit more quickly so when i just need to check mail or read a pdf, i use ubuntu.

Can't really judge about mac OS X, i tried it once with a friend, but everything was so weird and all the menu's buttons etc were all weird. It really looks like it's made for babies that need everything polished and art-y.

Of course windows.

For PC Games, Windows is still the best.
Mac is good too, but Windows is still better.
Also Linux is a good OS. But in my eyes no challenge for Mac and Windows.

A huge amount of useless software. Mac OS X has the best programs around.

iTunes

Which is a Mac software.

Since when do kids care about beauty? They only care about games. Mac has an awesome interface, everything there is simple and at the same time, nice looking.

BSD and Linux. Windows get's pwnd by Linux and Mac OS is based on FreeBSD.

Take that, you horribly over-priced corporations.

Dont start this shit again like 'LINUX HAS NO VIRUS! Q-Q' or 'WINDOWS WEEL PWN DA LINUZ!'
Its dumb. Every one uses OS what he like

What ? 3rd party ppl compilation ?
hate when someone takes, 'rebuild' OS, writes this to disk and etc, i prefer to use 'clear' & official, not compilation q-q

Double fail.
First of all it's called Windows XP Silent Edition, and second that the "X3" part is how much cores your processor have...

So your OS is the Windows XP Silent Edition, not the Windows XP Silens X3 Final.

Anyway, Windows is really better than the other OSs, because it has compatibility with everything, every game, every program. And doesn't have the ridiculous problem of "Not Compatible Blah blah blah".

Linux. I'm just using windows because I'm gaming sometimes and games don't work as easy and good on linux (Yes, I know there's wine)
Linux is free, faster, doesn't crash, installing programms is easier and faster most of the time, you don't need to defragment the HardDrive all the time, there are almost no viruses. And there are MANY free alternatives to expensive windows software in linux.

Linux is a wonderful opportunity if you're skilled enough in the CS area to handle it. It's much more complicated than Mac or Windows, but allows for much more, and in many, many ways, much better. Somebody said Mac is an 'artist's dream'. However, it's also everybody else's nightmare. Mac is optimized only for multimedia tasks, and it only holds so-much of a lead in that area. Windows is good if you want a simple PC to do simple things on, like send an e-mail or print your résumé.

Wonderful if you're running a small and private home server for 4 hours a day. However, if you're running an enterprise commercial server that's going to use multi-10-core-Xeon-processors, 128GB of RAM, and racked harddisks, Linux is so far superior that Windows barely deserves a mention.

I'd say if you don't know what you're doing in terms of advanced dealings with computers, then don't use Linux, though there are some more user-friendly versions now.

For me, Windows does a perfect job for whatever I need to do. I know that there are alternative Operating Systems but I've never used them.

Everything TheKilledDeath said. Additionally, I chose Linux because I would not be settled with something they want me to use, rather I want to create something for myself.
Granted, numerous distributions are targeted for specific personalities, but that's the reason why I chose Arch.

Arch Linux with it's perfect package manager helps me build my custom operating system and I can't be happier with it!

TBH the only benefit I've ever gained from Linux is its (native) posix library and development tools (I do maintain that gcc is a superior development platform compared to vc++) and ease of deployment, but seeing as the majority of the gcc project have been successfully ported over to windows and posix compliance can be rendered under cygwin (albeit non-native to the platform), the gap is shrinking.

I can't however see myself using Linux on a day to day basis as the operating system because it's still a hassle to use and let's admit it, I'm a lazy person and windows is by far easier to use and maintain (and video games, but that's besides the point). There's a reason that microsoft has such a large holding in the personal OS market share.

Wow dude, If you can't find a good music player for linux you shouldn't be using a computer, "fo real".

-> google.com

Argh.. my brain hurts from this thread!

The "best OS" is the one that has the most content for it, and sadly it's the overpriced properitary OS named Windows.

I would use only Linux if I wouldn't be a gamer...(Currently both installed)

Mac, in my eyes, is just overpriced as hell. Nothing more. The components are old and aren't standard conform.
