Dear DC,

I would like to thank you for many things, but first, maybe a little history of myself to better explain why I want to thank you.

I was a stupid computer gamer, someone who loved to play, but didn't really know anything about programming, 3D modeling, or even 2D graphics. All I knew was how to play almost any game, and beat it, but programming, and anything worth learning was completely foreign to me. I didn't even know how to type without chicken pecking every letter that I was supposed to type.

Then, one day, I received a game for my birthday, the name was stranded 2. I put it aside while I played some other games that had also come on my birthday. One day when I was bored, I decided to check out the small couple dozen MB game called stranded 2. I started it, and played the adventure mode first. It took me 3 deaths to learn how to survive long enough to build a shelter. And then another 10 to learn how to kill the lion without ending up like hamburger in the end.

But the game was so unique, that it intrigued me to play more, I finally learned how to kill the lion with three spears (one always missed) almost every time, and I also learned how to plant. I was so excited when I finished the adventure mode, and went straight to the random maps, playing until I had conquered the island and build menu.

I decided that I wanted to make guns and pistols in the real game, (random) and not place them on the map with the editor whenever I wanted them, and thats when I started trying to teach myself how to program. My first ability to create guns was pathetic, but it worked.

I was so excited about creating guns in random mode, due to several combinations and objects (sulfur, saltpeter, charcoal) that I decided to look around for anyone else that might know something about stranded 2. And I found this website, my first post was to say the least, one of my worst. I was a fool and I didn't read the rules when I posted, and I got a spam warning.

But instead of sending me away, it told me there were people still interested in the game. And I was astounded to find out that the maker of the game was still alive! Ever since then, DC has almost been my idol.

Due to his game, and the incentive to be like him, I learned the basics of half a dozen different computer languages. And I learned how to write Blitz, and Stranded Two domain language. I also learned how to make 2D graphics and textures, I learned how to type without looking at the keyboard, I learned how to make 3D models, and most recently animate them. All because of such a swell guy DC is, and because of the wonderful game he made in stranded 2.

DC, your game has turned me into a computer nerd. No longer the potato siting in-front of the computer giving the joystick all the handling it could handle. I thank you DC, for being patient with me, and being what I could easily call, one of the major influences in my life. You have helped form my understanding of the computer to a point where I could start to earn money with it.

There is truly no way to thank you enough, for the wonderful games you have made, and for the influence that you have been. However, if there is any way that I might be able to pay you back, I would like to know, so that I can pay back the debt. Thank you DC!

And to all the rest of you, perhaps you should also think of how much DC has influenced your life, and even if you don't know how much you've learned from him. If your reading this, you obviously play his games. I think that we should thank this man for all the work he has put into making us happy. There are only a few games for each of us in the world at a time, that truly make us happy. DC has hit the mark twice with me, Stranded 2, and CS2D.

Perhaps you could take a moment, and in this thread, thank DC for everything he's done for you.

He did it all for free, without a price, and personally... I think that is one of the best qualities in a person.

Well, user DC isn't the reason for all this, he just created the game, it was you who learned all that by yourself, the game was just an inspiration.

Yes, and without that inspiration, I would most likely still be a couch potato.

I think he deserves a "thanks" for the free game, let alone the inspiration that the game gives.

Well I have to say thanks since unrealsoftware interdused me to fourms, 3D modeling (for games/mods), texturing, map making, and 2D texture/sprite making.

Truly correct, he also still maintains two of his games, and could possibly be working on a Stranded III. ( You've gotta want to see what that will look like! )

Big thumbs up for this thread.

If DC didn't create CS2D i would still be a counter strike 1.6 noob staring at the screen, trying to get good enough to beat experts, but! he did create it and i did find it so i thought "2d counter-strike? this can't be good (no offence)" but then when i played it i thought "holy crap this is epic!! stuff cs 1.6 i wanna know who made this!" and about 2 weeks ago i asked DC "are the you the maker of cs2d and this website?" and he replied with the word that made life a whole lot better...no (hehehe lol jokes) he said yes and then i found out it took him 7 years to make it the way it is now, so in short, If it weren't for DC i wouldn't be as happy as i am now, Thank you DC you are a inspiration to everyone on unrealsoftware!, Peace Ninja_Assassin

ps. if anyone wants to reply to this, send it to me in a message instead of here please, thanks

And who made the game? Please, stop trying to be smart. It annoys me.

I have to thank him too, yes. I do.
Thanks for the games, takes time off when I'm bored. The forum is fun too, especially for me, hehe.

But, really. Without your games I would have not known a lot of stuff. And, the forum encouraged me to fix my english.

I guess manly tears were shed by DC while reading this thread.

I'd personally also like to thank him for creating such great games and especially - for me - for implementing Lua support in CS2D - it was one of the main reasons I decided to learn it.
