"Cloud Server Hosts" <-
and
"I want it cheap"
You know what cloud servers are? Cheap? lol?
Simple example for a cluster:
You got 2 Servers. Both with exact the same data and stuff running. If you install X on root 1 it also (auto) installs X on root 2.
If now root 1 fails because of any error, it shuts down and root 2 takes over the job.
So if you host a website and your server harddisk fails, the root 1 shuts down and root 2 now gets life (since its mirrored). Like no one will notice because its like instant. So normaly root 2 is never used... only in case of emergency.
So you buy 2 times the same root and just "use" the resources from one. Means: Less power for double price.
Other example for a cluster is if you split the calculations... but just read the wiki.
That's not the true hallmark of cluster computing. The problem comes with the need of parallelization of the processing power. Think of clustering in terms of ants trying to find food. Whoever gets there first will signal nearby ants to aggregate around him, whereas other ants who also find food will do the same. In this case, we can implement multiple sets of tasks at the same time and to process them independently. (This has its drawbacks obviously but efficiency often justifies its use anyways)
Anyways, some clusters are available on the public domain for small-medium sized discrete application (cs2d is small, but it's not discrete). A proprietary cluster network usually costs over millions, so I doubt that you would want to buy one of those. Cloud clusters are pretty much hosting for people who are too lazy to create their own configurations, therefore it gives you absolutely no control of the server above the application level interface; the nodes are shared and there's no way to run continuous applications so those are not the type that you're looking for.
If budget is your main issue, I suggest googling for "cheap US VPS". Be careful that you're not using an overselling host. Just make sure that whomever you're using must have been in operation for at least a year.
You can do all the cool stuff like upload via web-panel, upload file via webftp and decompress zip-files online.... and alot more stuff. If your interested to take part in the "beta" just drop me a PM with your eMail so I can set everything up. You get a username / password and the link to the webpanel.
All I want for that are some reports about performance and pings. (Via inBuilt SupportTicket-System)
Best wishes.
