@wiki suggestion: that's actually a pretty nice idea. even though I would implement it in another way: an additional list at the portal page.

There's a ready list of recent changes (well, only one most recent change) on the main page, so there's no real point of making it on the wiki - although on the website, it might be a good idea.

Personally, Autoclose is a piece of shit, those kinds of mechanisms can't differentiate between Legitimate Threads or Shit threads, I also have to note that rarely anybody gives half a fuck about Thread Revivals

They're bloody annoying and make me want to kill the person that had the nerve to revive such stupid threads we all hoped would go away.

Not auto-closed, a red arrow for threads that are locked. It's pretty uncommon to see a thread that is locked on the portal though.

Viewing the thread via forums.php-->you can easily tell which ones are locked.

I'd like to see a filter to search quicker through old PMs by separating them by usernames.

also a search function to look up certain words within the PMs would be nice.

What about all your rule violations being summed up every month and you get one big ban for all the violations you did in that month? (seriously, who actually cares about a 3 hour ban?)

Personally I'd bring back the perma-banhammer, I believe rule violators continue to break rules because they think they will only get a few hour or day bans for their offense.

This should not only be based on the severity of the offense but accumulative build up as well. Not to say there will not be cool downs for violations, but indeed, the amount of time to disregard an offense should be decreased.

Best example is user oxytamine . In the end DC just unbanned his main account.
However I still agree that three-hour-bans are pretty useless; if I got one I'm not sure if I'd even ever notice it.

it's impossible not to notice 3 hour bans because the ban countdown is only started when you visit the website and see the temp ban notice. the only way to miss them is to not visit the website at all.

@user Apache uwu: I agree that many users don't even seem to care about tempbans at all but permanent bans are nonsense because you can simply register again - and that's what many people do/did. blocking cookies can be deleted, IPs can be hidden with proxies. most email services allow you to create several email aliases within seconds. or you could just go to a friend and register from there. there's no 100% trustworthy way for me to detect if a person already registered an account or not. believe me: banning people temporarily reduces the amount of fake/multi accounts which are created (and there's nothing I hate more than assholes who spam my database with tons of crappy accounts). it's the better solution.

Yes, changing cursor would be annoying. But sound when you get a message or you are marked on thread/comment is good idea.
