had a ps2 emulator and all the games lagged like hell and the controls are just crappy so before i would download an emulator i would buy a better computer and a gamepad!

Why don't you just buy the console itself? it's much cheaper than a better pc.

Not all emulators! I can play Super Mario Brothers on an NES emulator with no lag on a Pentium 3 computer
I`ve been able to launch some old-school classics like Silent Hill and play them via emulator with great success and much to my enjoyment.
However, newer consoles like Xbox, Wee and PS2/3 tend to loan themselves badly for emulation, as their computational power is at the comparable to the average computer as of now.
Per ce, emulation is not a crime. However, obtaining a rom often is. That hurdle is not quite of much issue when you have a legit copy of game you`ve purchased.

Given the overall lack of explicitly interesting titles on consoles for me, I tend to emulate older stuff. Phoenix Wright, anyone?
