ty...i will try to get to it asap. maybe i can add to mine and upload a patch in the near future.

Quote
Second question, however: is there any type of extensive tutorial available? I really don't know how to get any further than the most basic builds of the stock version. No idea how to find coal for the forge, or much else for that matter.

It will begin to appear once your mining level is high enough. you will get nuggets from clay, irion rock and other places. There is no COAL ROCK on the maps since builder removed them. This is was done so players have to use the IRION TOOLS for a while before you can make the STEEL TOOLS. that is why you cant find coal for a while until your mining is up.

Quote
No tutorial. No guidelines. unfortunately, the game has a brutal learning curve. Once u get it tho, is easy.

your going to love the diary in this update!!!

Quote
Im having issues with the forge.

you have to hit that soft nugget you see on the anvil with your hammer to make the item.

I WILL GO AHEAD AND POST A LINK TO THE UPDATE: soon as i figure out Livid, or where to upload it for you guys....followed by a patch when i finish the clay items. So this update will not have much in the clay category, ready.

Try kk0114's version, page 99. I have been doing that for a couple of months. Stills has some errors, but...

Using that one as well, now.

The guides, unfortunately, are buried deep within the 100 pages of this thread. One of the most important things that you can do is to get the Stranded 2 mod viewer and look up the combinations.
If you haven't already figured it out, you can start out by punching the palm trees and getting bark. Use the bark, and you'll get food items.
Once you've punched down enough trees, you should build yourself a decent base of operations, and go out and search for an iron deposit. Also of importance is finding a wool/cotton deposit for your cords. Also note that you'll need to acquire a liana/branch and a liana/skin in order to stop health loss from injuries when you're out hunting dangerous animals.
With the Massive Mod, you'll be able to build mines and prospect for resources once you've leveled up your rock punching skill.
Making steel is different for each Massive Mod version. I think that in the Massive+ModUsed version that was posted a few pages back, you have to (T)take coal dust into your hand, then right click on red iron lumps in the forge.

Also, a better enhancement of the earlier Mod Mod:

http://www.mediafire.com/?jkeye6walf2l791

I expanded the multi-item creation combinations and made a few new items, as well. I'm still having trouble getting a good terraforming item going, though.

I would suggest that the 3 of you that are coding atm should coordinate and release a single update. If you do, I volunteer to put together a 20 page simple starter guide, including combos, tips, etc. In fact, I almost have it, is just a matter of adding the new/missing stuff and editing a bit.

I will give it a run today Jack, I'll come back with some feed back.

i have 200 mining
how do i make a pickaxe?

trashcan i think you need to use a long pole carved from a log with a machete with iron nails.. but how did you make the head?

ahh nails, thats what im missing. I made the head by taking iron, going over to the forge, puting the iron on the fire till it turned to soft and thatn hammered it into a rod, than took two rods and converted it to a pick axe head.

another question is now that i planted wheat it use to have red sparkles around it and now blue sparkles. what does that mean? also, it seems the when i plant wheat save and leave when i come back its not there.

It never ceases to amaze me how few people read tutorials, even if they have it implemented in the game...

Trashcan...

LOOK IN YOUR DIARY FOR INFORMATION ...under planting you will find orange glowing plants NEED WATER while blue glowing plants ARE WATERED. If you don't water them they die...unless your on EASY mode.

put a bottle of water in your hand and right click your mouse at the ground to water the plant.

distilling anything takes a bit of time...when you get enough salt out of the saltwater, a bottle of "fresh" water will appear. You should get a few bottles a day IF YOU LITE THE FIRE. If your fire is out it will not distill.

read through the DIARY as I put a lot of info in there broken into subjects.

THIS IS MY LAST POST IN THE THREAD...i will be in the thread I made for "THE SURVIVALIST" download. I have posted a GRAPHICS UPDATE in there for you all to upgrade.

thank you all for your input here...hope you enjoy the game.

so i looked into the files and saw a place where i can find the combinations. when i go to the tools or weapons .inf file I see the data like this

### Shotgun
combi=start
id=shotgun
req=4791
req=4793,2
gen=110
combi=end

so i see the file itmes.inf and try to look up some of the items that it requires but not all the items like 7491 isnt listed. how do i find out what all the items are. is there an updated item number list?

Unfortunately builder has added so many items it would be an entire update to make a list for them all. You can look at the code for the items to find the ids in a text editor but notepad doesn't seem to register the different lines and makes it hard to read. It is possible to find it in that but i found that notepad++ works much better and makes it easier to find what you are looking for.

In response to your original question, a shotgun is made from a shotguns stock and 2 steel barrels. The stock is made from a log and a knife while the barrels are made from steel bars.

The unofficial massive mod update does include a combination list in the diary but so much has changed in that that it is not entirely reliable.

Builder2_0 has handed the ball over to me in the S2~MassiveMod~TheSurvivalist thread. I have extended, debugged, and enhanced the original MM with a realistic survivalist aspect.

Is the Massive Mod still being in development or is it out and ready to play? When I download it, it doesn't turn into a ZIP it is just a WinRAR Icon and just says "Massive Mod" and doesn't have a Zip?

There are actually several items.infs. 4791 refers to shotgun stock in Items_crafting, and 4793 refers to steel barrel ALSO in items_crafting.
Going back to combinations for those.
you'll need 7 (trunk) 4926 (knife) and you'll get the shotgun stock, and 30 (hammer) and 4999 (Steel bar, hard) to make the steel barrel
