Hey everyone, I'm gonna give it a quick post right now since I'm on school right now, I'm gonna introduce myself a bit.

g1real they call me on internet, I'm 16 years old, when I finish my exams this year I'll be starting a game-design schooling etc.

But to the point, I'm gonna try to remod stranded II from scratch, with all new buildings and items, however, I'm setting up a plan in the upcoming weeks, but I've got some questions for answering.

- I can map and code easily, but modelling and texturing get's difficult, I could use help with that.
- If no one can model, where can I find a modelling program myself.
- I'm particulary new to this all, I hop from game to game sometimes, but I hope to finish this eventually.

Is this game still alive? I mean, like, are people still watching this? I wanna blaze new life in this game, perhaps even fix a multiplayer mod for this, but I'm not that godlike with coding yet.

Anyhow, a sneak preview of the story.

"I've found a book in this crate, I wonder what's in it, it looks weathered and teared up, however it's still readable on some parts

The expedition is going good, we've finally established a base and we're exploring the islands right now. Thomas, however, fell ill and we have yet to find a cure for it. We however believe that further along the shores grows a herb that might keep him alive for a few more days, until the supplies arrive.

I'm hoping that this expedition goes well, perhaps we will finally find the so-longed fo...

The rest has deceased from the weather.

Might look not look like much right now, however, I hope that I can upload some stuff tommorrow or in the weekend (that's when I'm home)

1. I think it would be better if you put your stuff in bizzls extension mod.

2. Yes this game seams very much allive to me
thousands of people are playing it, and there are some mods in production.

3. try milkshape (google for it)

4. forget implementig multiplayer, thats not possible with scripting.

5. your story looks good so far, better than most I've seen lately

Naw, I don't feel that much for merging it with someone, however, I could work with him together, and on longterm still merge it. The game looks alive to me too, but looks can be deceiving, and when I see that the Massive mod got discontinued it raised questions with me.

I'll look for milkshape, I read about it somewhere before about modelling for stranded, I only forgot, thanks for that.

I said, on a later base, perhaps even modifying the whole engine =]

And about the story, I found it average and so-so, I quickly pulled that together for this (I have keywords and a summary and all that, but no real text yet)

You don't even started something and you are already talking about merging ;P

It doesn't look like DC will release the engine source anytime soon.
Besides, you would need a 100$ Compiler+Lib which is virtually useless for most tasks except this one.

So basically what you're saying is that you think that what has been typed here so far is mere nonsense, and yes, I have already started. But it's hard for me to work on it (I can spend, perhaps, half an hour to an hour a day). However in the weekend I can dedicate myself fully to it, including making models and all. Problem is rather, that almost everything is in german, and I have no knowledge of german at all.

I'm looking for modelling tutorials right now, I hope I'll be able to show you guys some stuff soon.

I didn't wanted to offense you, sorry.
It's just that I you can't talk about merging if there is nothing to merge yet

Yeah, I got a bit offensed by that, but that's me, I just hate it when people try to degrade my stuff (it has happened with me before, and I canceled my project just because of that, I don't need such community)

Sorry for acting like that, and well, I don't know a lot about your project either, could you tell me a bit more indepth perhaps?

(I did read a bit of your topic)

Edit: On another note, I just downloaded milkshape, problem is the shareware thingy, I don't have a cc (I'm only 16) so I'll have to find another way to buy it.

Otherwise I'll just get it... my way.

Why not, why? Why not a cheap freeware version for homebrew mods, I mean... come on.

Edit2: Also, I look avatarless, I better get to uploading mine soon.

Who can explain me in english what I have to do to succesfully export a model to stranded II, or redirect me to an english tutorial for that, highly appreciated!

1. if you really want to make this mod, don't work to much on it. otherwise It could happen that you get bored about it.

2. how about your parents buy it, and you give them the money?

3. make model then
file > export > Blitz Basic 3d

Now you've got a .b3d model, something that works with S2

I think you already know how to merge it in S2 then?

1. :3 I tend to do that, so I don't do that yeah.

2. I was planning that, I need the cash first tho.

3. Ok, what about lightning and stuff? and textures?

and no, I don't know how to merge it yet.

Sorry for the late update, I was, well, uhm.
My parents banned me from internet :<

Also, I see so many mods sprouting, I'm starting to think it perhaps would be better to merge with a few people together, and then make one huge highquality mod.

Tommorrow I'm going home so I'll be able to do more stuff then.

I could support you with a book... (actually it's in the extension-mod)

About modeling-software... You could try blender. But you'll need a plug-in to export models into *.b3d. Also you could try to get an older version of milkshape3d and may have luck finding a serial for it... But of cource you didn't red that hint.

A book model, yeah, I could use that for the story mode and random lore.

Also, my typing skills are not that great, I was bored yesterday so instead of working on the mod my adapter almost burned down my bed while I was playing heroes of might and magic IV for 5 hours in the night

Oh and thanks for the link, I don't think they got any plugins for it but I'll take a deeper look later.

Oh and like any other mod I'm getting some standard extra things in.

Iron types:
Bronze
Copper
Iron
Steel
Titanium

(Crap, school breaks over, see ya!)

ALSO TO BE COMING

CARTS TO CARRY MORE STUFF! YAAAAAAY!

This is however, a nessesary object to build large structures, like a huge house. (you'll need to carry a 100kg rock =], and butterflies don't raise it anymore)

*cough* What?
Besides that those are metals (only iron is iron ), the last two in the list are a little nonsense, since the technology you need will bloat the whole mod
There is no easy way to produce a decent steel or pure titanium (you won't even geht 50% pure)

My tips against WoW-Addiction: either simply unistall it and forget it (can be pretty hard), or get an OS that can't run the Client

Well, I'm planning to implement the features of even getting iron buildings etc, to be able to develop yourself to a complete futuristic city

Edit ------------------

I'm sorry to announce this, but yeah, I'm discontinueing it for now, due to my school sucking up a lot for me, and also more private stuff.

I'm unable to work on the mod most of time (Like, only a weekend every 2 weeks) due to private stuff again, and I feel disgraced that I ever started this knowing I could not finish it anyway.

But not to despair, I will return.

The only thing I can do around here, is write and draw stuff, for later builds, I'll do that, and when I return, I will revive this project, and I will finish this mod.

I give myself 90% chance (looking positively) that I will be able to do it all again, after new year
