Hey I have a few questions about some maps of mine. Ok so i created some maps 2 to be exact and when i try to create game nobody joins. Once in a while someone joins and then they sit in the spectators for a while then it says ........ has left (ping timeout) and i have decently fast internet and comp. Just wondering if i am doing something wrong or what. My firewalls and everything are turned off too. Next i have the new map editor and i open the maps i have created, update it, save, test, update again then quit out of map editor. Then once i get back into the map editor and try to open my maps it quits completely out of the progam and won't let me open my maps. But i have saved my maps in another folder and extracted them into the map folder and then they work again. Don't know what the deal is. Finally i have a question about waypoints. When i create waypoints should i go all out and make waypoints all over the map and make it look" messy" or should i make them clean and spread out. Mainly i am looking for the bots to never stop moving or get stuck in one place which goes to my other question why do sometimes the bots get stuck in one place.

I know it might take awhile to respond but please all replies will be helpful THANKS!!√

The other players must have your map downloaded. If they didn't, they can't join. An automatic map transmission doesn't exist in CS 2D yet.

Well, let's say that DC has made a stupid mistake here. He told me that every map has a check code which has to be unique. In the internal editor after every save this number would change (I'm not sure...) so an edited map has another code than its original. But the external editor does not change this check code. So it can be possible to make wallhacks. That's why its currently forbidden to play maps which are created with the external editor. Well, as I said this is very stupid but hopefully this will be changed somewhere in the future...

It seems that the waypoints system in CS 2D isn't perfect yet which explains why bots sometimes get stuck. Never make the lines through not-walkeble tiles like walls, obstacles and breakables. I also recommend you to make less waypoints. It is bad when nearly every square on your map has a waypoint.

I think you shouldn't use so many waypoints, just make a route trough a walkway, etc. And not more the average, even though you can't make it perfect I guess. Try to keep the bot waypoint size smaller, I think it runs better then.

Cause I have had a test with bots, I had one map with extremely much waypoints, and one with a little less. And I tested it and I came up with that if you have too much waypoint size of a big map, etc. The bots will run around in about some few minutes until they freeze. So that's my warning to all mappers, lolz. I am limititing my waypoints as good as I can. Although if I make a really big map, I don't make waypoints since big maps with waypoints usually don't come out good.

Well keep mapping, and I might be here for more tips.

Hey i just found that if you open your maps in the internal editor and save them then exit. then open in the new editor they will open just fine. -----most of the time.

Omg lolz, I mean your supposed to save the maps firstly in the so called external editor and then open it in the ingame editor for it to work again.

This is 100% guaranteed.
If not done right, blame yourself.

And this thread is pointless. -.-
