People that compare Coronavirus and Flu... man could you not be more wrong.

Case Fatality Rate
Flu 0.1% - that's when including all flu type viruses (h1n1 which is not common)
nCoV - 3% lowest possible death rate

R0
Flu - 1.28
nCoV - between 3 & 4

ICU needed
Flu - less than 1%
nCoV - 20%

This is when using official numbers that China provided.

@user Medeiros: The image you have posted is clearly a troll - "washing hands and sneezing into elbows is the best practice"

Dangerous virus does not need to be deadly, it's enough of that high percentage of patients needs very intense case. Adding this with it being highly infectious can drastically affect economy. That's why we stopped having news about it, though the number of infected people are still increasing exponentially.

Right now we have 20000 confirmed, 23000 suspected.

If we compare coronavirus with SARS. Coronavirus is deadlier pandemic than SARS, anyway.

I didn't want to compare 2019-nCoV with the flu (and I assume that facts sheet didn't intend to do that either).

It's just important to make people aware that A LOT of people die from the the flu every year and that there is nearly no media coverage on that.

That a few hundred or even thousand people are killed by a virus doesn't mean that we have to panic and that the end of the world is near. This happens. Every year.

Of course the corona virus is a serious threat anyway and it's crucial that governments try to stop it from spreading.

@user Black Wolf: It's already happening - the damage is being dealt to the global economy. Incredible damage, many factories being closed all over the world due to shortage of goods from China. A lot of people might get loose jobs due to this (if this does not get contained very soon), that's called crisis.

@user Pagyra: Let's not get into any conspiracies, though if you want, watch this Indiana Jones 10 years old video from 15:00

Let's just be cautious, there is nothing we can do about this virus anyway.

Indonesia is currently having no coronavirus cases, despite being neighboor with Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Philipines which have confirmed cases.

I'm afraid the virus goes undetected because it's very strange that there's no cases here at all. I'm getting a little flu right now as of writing but hopefully it's not coronavirus.

Corona means ‘crown,’ so these viruses appear crown-shaped when looked at under an electron microscope.
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Feb. 11 that the new coronavirus originating in China would now be called COVID-19.

Previously, it had been called 2019nCoV, although many media outlets referred to the virus simply as coronavirus, even though that refers to a larger family of viruses.

Fast facts on coronaviruses:
- There is no cure for the common cold.
- A coronavirus causes both SARS and MERS.
- Coronaviruses infect many different species.
- There are seven known human coronaviruses.
- Last SARS spread from China to cause infection in 37 countries, killing 774 people. Current COVID-19 take 1383 in 28 countries.

Human coronaviruses most commonly transmit from an infected person to others via:
- the air by coughing and sneezing
-close personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands
- touching an object or surface with the virus on it, then
- touching your mouth, nose, or eyes before washing your hands

Also scientists points out both SARS and MERS outbreaks were from animal-to-human contact, with SARS most likely from contact with bats and MERS from contact with camels

Most people will get infected with one or more of the common human coronaviruses in their lifetime.

Common human coronaviruses, including types 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1, usually cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses, like the common cold. Most people get infected with these viruses at some point in their lives. These illnesses usually only last for a short amount of time. Symptoms may include

runny nose
headache
cough
sore throat
fever
a general feeling of being unwell
Human coronaviruses can sometimes cause lower-respiratory tract illnesses, such as pneumonia or bronchitis. This is more common in people with cardiopulmonary disease, people with weakened immune systems, infants, and older adults.

Symptoms vary from person to person with a 2019-nCov infection. It may produce few or no symptoms. However, it can also lead to severe illness and may be fatal. Common symptoms include:

fever
breathlessness
cough
It may take 2–14 days for a person to notice symptoms after infection.

No vaccine is currently available for 2019-nCov. However, scientists have replicated the virus. This could allow for early detection and treatment in people who have the virus but are not yet showing symptoms.

Other human coronaviruses
Two other human coronaviruses, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV have been known to frequently cause severe symptoms. MERS symptoms usually include fever, cough, and shortness of breath which often progress to pneumonia. About 3 or 4 out of every 10 patients reported with MERS have died. MERS cases continue to occur, primarily in the Arabian Peninsula. SARS symptoms often included fever, chills, and body aches which usually progressed to pneumonia. No human cases of SARS have been reported anywhere in the world since 2004.

The incubation time of ncov2019 is like 14 days, so in the first days of infection (worst-case) you will see some symptoms of a regular aka you can't tell.

@user Masea: South-east of turkey, between Iran, Iraq, and Syria. Not only school, even university, and many more. They said "The hospitals don't have enough space for infected people", "They said they have only 50 free space". So that's why they closed them, They don't want more people to get infected. In the hospitals some people are sitting on the floor, cause there aren't enough space.
