CS2D v1.0.0.9 is online. This is a maintenance release without fancy new features. Mainly bugfixes and scripting improvements.

Worst update ever in my opinion, like @user TrialAndError: said, If we spam hudtxt (repeat * 200) then we can crash the users computers or nets, or if a file is with protection or not, then the file creator could make it to crash the slow servers, Also it's the easiest and best way for cheaters/hackers to crash the servers. Now we can crash the slow servers with lua

I bet this new version of cs2d is better for the cheaters/hackers.

• You have to make a hudtxt limit and image limit, 100 is enough for hudtxt, 50 is enough for images, Also a limit what will not let you to add 200hudtxt at the same moment.

Correct me, If i'm wrong

Edit: Now in this new version of cs2d, I bet CS2D can be used like a virus.

@user Grand Master: Not sure if I get you right but if a script allows users to spam 200 HUD texts then this script should be changed or removed.

Yes, you are wrong in my opinion. Scripts must handle and limit the usage of HUD texts and images properly. Not CS2D itself. It would limit people way too much. A lot of people would complain if I would limit images only to 50 just because some people are unable to write proper and safe scripts.

Also if scripts are written properly, cheaters/hackers can't use the increased limit to cause any more damage than in earlier versions.

Edit²: Regarding your virus claim: Ah, I see. You are just randomly trolling. Sweet. Please stop saying random nonsense. You might scare people which don't have a technical background and can't judge themselves.
If you're serious please explain why you think that CS2D 1.0.0.9 can be used like a virus (and 1.0.0.8 not).

Everything can be injected if it is in your memory

Answer: Like i said, (spam hudtxt (repeat * 200))
In the old version of cs2d the limit was 50.
What do you think about it, It's much easier for cheaters/hackers to use it.

That's true and that's were CS2D's ultimate Lua scripting safeguard kicks in:
• Lua scripts run on the server only. Not a single line of Lua is executed in client ever.
• Clients can't affect the Lua scripts on the server (unless the scripts themselves have major flaws).

So a server can't mess with client memory and clients can't mess with server memory under normal circumstances.

Also nothing has been changed regarding this. So if you're claiming that the new version is more vulnerable you're wrong: It has always been like this. Earlier versions work the very same way.

Edit:
Regarding that hudtxt spam: This command can only be executed on the server. You need either rcon access or insecure scripts to execute it as client/attacker. If an attacker manages to do that there would be infinite easier ways to kill the server. So vulnerability isn't really increased by the new HUD text limit!

This is probably true as well but like explained: neither the vulnerability nor the possibility to use CS2D as a virus are increased with this new release. √
Actually the opposite is the case: Since memory address locations changed with the update cheaters now have to update their cheats/hacks first

What the heck is this guy talking about? Calm down homie. What adequate scripter/guy would make such stupid scripts? Maybe 12-15 kid or a brainless?

Sadly is not possible to inject some IQ into your head, if you're a good hacker you rather to help find something in game that would allow find a solution. Otherwise you're a bad hacker and better you not to hack smth because everything you do - crashing servers and making cheats and having fun that is funny only for you, so you became larva.

If you're a real professional hacker, you don't need hudtext spam to attack a server. Also, the new hudtext way will definitely not be your gate into the server.

@user Mora_rus: I'm aware of this. When stuff gets reported I evaluate how important it is to fix it and how complicated it is to fix it. In this case it wasn't easy to fix it but it's not a super critical problem either.

Therefore it has not been fixed yet. Like many other bugs which have been reported. I can't fix everything in one update.

Using projectile item thing still leaves the image of the item floating behind it.

Will that be fixed? (Only happens on remote connection, not to host.)

so u actually didnt fix any of actual gameplay bugs, and released new version to annoys us (re-organizing every setting we play in new version?) well played sir.

fyi; u can fix that bug next time if u gonna release new version that was already mentioned and confirmed by u (also flashbang bug and after ur teammate die, u actually see around ur teammate for a ~second without fow, even if fow is on at that moment in the server, while spectating ur teammate as dead player)

it was also confirmed by Simonas, when i showed him that issue 1st time with usage of smoke right after throwing flare; for example if u throw a flare in a tunnel of 3xn to have vision; then throw smoke just a bit closer to urself compared to flare's location, then flares changes its location to smoke's position and fails to give vision, which's location is exactly within the smoke. He also checked the issue for a few min in codes but said something like "i cant rly find the error, probably cuz of network sync(or something like that, i dont remember) if its the case i cant rly fix it" these were somewhat his words as if i dont recall wrongly.

that 1st bug about "sync" is the most important bug right now, cuz it rly affect gameplay (we see we hit enemy everyday, but there is no hit registered), maybe other 2 bug happens cuz of that same error about "sync" (which is rly not an issue compared to that nade going different way/seeing ur bullet hit, seeing blood of enemy like for real a lot of times, but hit doesnt register at all a lot of times like A LOT)

so seeing this "update" and not seeing any actual bugfix that affect gameplay is frustrating, as u can see above at my 1st sentence.

therefore, if u arent gonna fix those bugs i talked about, there is just no point of releasing newer version; so just dont release new version if u wont fix these bugs, thx.

@user Lord: Sorry that you lost your settings. I recommend using Steam to prevent losing your settings. If you can't or don't want to use Steam you should make a copy of your sys/*.cfg files outside the CS2D folder and copy them back after the update.

All the stuff in the update was asked for by the community. It's quite selfish to tell me that you don't want me to release updates just because they don't contain anything you're personally interested in.

Regarding your "FYI": I looked into all the mentioned issues as well but didn't find a way to fix them yet. Unfortunately these are complicated issues which are tough fix. Please understand that just knowing about them doesn't mean that I can easily fix them. Otherwise I would have done so a long time ago already. I even said in the quoted comment

I did not want to hold back the other changes any longer. Therefore I released the update even though I fully agree that the mentioned issues are of course very important.
