So, i wanted to stop by and talk a bit about CS2D and it's dying-out future. The game was fun until it literally became Iran Town. In short, the game is now all just about killing eachother and participating in tournaments in which tryhards are only in. It's as if no casuals had the right to play this game from a different path, where's all the COOP or Escape type of maps that people used to play? There was no killing eachother for loot or items back then, there was no Iran Town or any kind of that crap, you get the picture. Back then there was no being killed from nowhere in tryhards that you need to call the freaking army on to kill. It's as if they were bots with their highest priority to kill anyone in sight without even dying. If this game won't change, it will fade from existence. Think about it. If this game dies, then all we're gonna play is Stranded and Carnage Contest? Where are the good times? Where are the many good and full to the top servers? Where's the fun in? Where's the real CS2D that we used to see?

Is this like a tradition? I see this subject being posted at least once every two months, it mostly ends in the trash.

Honestly if you want to help CS2D just tell about it to your friends, if they refuse then maybe a 2D clone of CS1.6 isn't as exciting as it was back in 2012 and you should find another game to play.

In fact, may I say, is it almost the same with most of the games? For example, you just kill in Battle Royales and then again.

You were too close to the real point. What this game lacks and what other games do for retaining the players playing is that there is some kind of progression scheme where you discern your level, items, stats and so on. Perhaps if there were a small bar and text which graphically show you your level and as well as needed experience until to next level. And following all the rounds or particular actions, you gain experience points and repeatedly this is being presented as graphically as well. This may attract people, which is not for sure though but worth trying.

Finally another "CS2D is dying do something"-thread! It's about time! Thank you!

There's even CS2D in the title. Makes no sense to post this in Off-Topic. Moved.

If there's just "Iran Town" then this either means that people only want to play "Iran Town" or that people who don't want to play it do not try hard enough to change it. Changing it would be so simple. E.g. by simply joining Non-Iran-Town-Servers (there are enough).

Couldn't agree more with what user Mami Tomoe said
If you want to play classic CS2D or any specific game mode just find/convince a few people and do it. I see nothing which should stop you from doing so.

All is in our hands and we have to make online by ourselves. DC cannot and wouldn't make amazing mods and hosting servers to make online in the game.

Is only required to create a teams of people who can draw, code, make sounds and maps and other thing. Is related to the community. People always want to make from CS2D another game, to add some non standard game play mods and maps.

The game is supposed to be shooter, then most mods need to be more interested if so. But not these primitive mods with only exp and lvl shit. People want to unlock something what is under secret before they reach requirements.

CS2D is not died and wouldn't. But just online is smaller and smaller because newest players don't see something cool. And is not about the game, since it already look very nice and still developing, the problem is that there is no choice of servers to play.

We only can back time by ourselves with making something cool and interesting, since the game allow it we have only to work. But people are lazy. They don't want and cannot create a normal adequate community to work together.

If you want to play "classic"-CS2D join my server "CS2D GLOBAL COMMUNITY", #1 is hosted in North America and #2 in Europe. You can also join our Discord (link is at my signature in here) and we are running an 1on1 tournament right now. Feel free to join us!

Server #1 is 19/20 players while I'm typing this btw.

Lol, the whole point of this thread is total useless as if the game is dead than it's dead, you just let it be same as if it's revived, nothing your concern it's on the devs.

"At least do something to revive it" is a too idealistic option for this community, while this site is only suitable for English and German speakers, if you want the quantity for not being "dead" you should allow more foreign language.

@user tek69: So the only thing you want to play is Stranded and Carnage Contest like the others (for example @user Mami Tomoe) who came up with the same opinion? Go ahead.
@user DC: If i specify Iran Town correctly, i mean that the game cannot be all about killing eachother on other servers. If you want to be shot up from behind by a tryhard who plays like he dosen't need a keyboard or a mouse and plays telepathically, do so. And if you ask me about my skill i'm not a noob, i'm a casual who dosen't need much skill to kill a decent player, and not like the one specified here.
@user mrc: If there was no people who play like one specified in the reply to DC, i'd gladly do.

@user AlexGuy: I'm not sure if I get your point. Are you complaining about cheaters? You will find those in nearly every multiplayer game.

You should play on U.S.G.N. only servers with admins which take care an kick/ban these people. Or on servers with people who know that you can vote to kick players.

Or do you seriously complain that CS2D is mainly about killing each other? That's what CS2D is and always will be. If you dislike that you should play something else (there are enough other games, including games not made by Unreal Software) or play fancy Lua mods. There are also tons of those.

If you're asking for a life changing mega update for CS2D: Sorry, not planned. CS2D is good the way it is and it's not smart to keep stacking more and more fancy stuff on top of an old foundation - because at some point everything would collapse.

@user DC: I am not referring to hackers of any kind, i refer to the "pro players" of the game that don't match my skill whenever each time i attempt to play.
@user mrc: These games are purely dead, there's almost no activity on them.

@user AlexGuy: Ah, I see okay. Thanks for clarifying.

It would be possible to fix that with some kind of ranking and matchmaking but I assume that there are not enough players in CS2D to make that work well. Also it would require a well organized server landscape and people who actually make sure that nothing explodes. I mean a crazy server admin, cheaters or just some weird Lua scripts could easily ruin this whole thing completely.
In other words: Nice in theory, won't work in practice.

Therefore the best approach to handle that would be the manual way. Find people who play CS2D and have comparable skills. On forums, chats or in CS2D itself. Then just meet on private servers and play there.

Regarding Carnage Contest and Minigolf Madness: These games just work well when played with friends (or sane and friendly strangers). This is an issue. Many people who play games either don't have friends or don't want to organize game sessions with friends manually.

At least we could revive it with creating Iran/Palestine Town servers more than one.

The mods will probably working well and comming bigger without lagging only if the server has full control of the logics, especially movement. For example, you don't wanna make the "setpos" working all the time which is causing many problems.

@user DC: you could translate the game (minigolf madness) from german to english, I think you can do that in 10 minutes.

@user mrc: I would rather make a 3D WebGL browser version instead of translating that old sh*t Could probably be done in a weekend or two. But that's off-topic.

old Game is dying because of the silly maps

With respect to cs2d, it will always live, but the purchase menus are too ugly, why not improve them?,they are the same since 2004(CounterStrike2d(Beta)Remember?) , it could be modernized in that sense.
I could do an excellent job with the images, I offer to help. if in the distant future they want to do it, I hope to be alive to see it.

@user Quattro: I still hope you share the competition code, no matter if it's not ready, upload it somewhere, anyway I plan to edit it and use only what I need.
don't be selfish with the code
