One year ago CS2D 1.0.0.5 has been released on Steam!
Let's celebrate this with some numbers! Hooray!

Some numbers
• We rolled out 2 full updates and several patches since Steam release
• nearly 1 MLLION free CS2D liceneses have been granted on Steam (991,840)
• 862,870 people downloaded and started (recorded play time) CS2D on Steam
• 4,931 people reviewed/commented the game on Steam
• 89% of these reviews are positive (leading to a "very positive" rating)
• Max peak simultaneous Steam players: 1,440 (Nov 18, first Saturday after release)
• Simultaneous players on Steam last 2 weeks: min 10, max 109

CS2D does not have any internal tracking so I don't know the overall download numbers.
Given that it has several 100k downloads on various download pages (e.g. >500k on Chip.de alone) we can safely assume that the game has been downloaded (and most likely also played) by MILLIONS (plural!) over its lifetime.
This is a great success and I'm happy and very grateful that you - players, fans, supporters, developers, map creators, skin creators etc. - made all this possible!

Update planned
I'm also glad to announce that there will be another CS2D update soon. user SQ and I are trying to do it this month but we can't promise anything.

Awesome! I still remember playing as soon as it was released on Steam, it gave me nearly the same fresh feeling as when I started back in 2008, and oh how much CS2D has evolved, from a simple top-down 2D clone of CS 1.6 to the last #1 Greenlight title on Steam full on unique features and best of all: always remaining 100% free, no bullshit microtransactions. Hooray to user DC and everyone that has contributed!

I can say that happily all this for me started with a PC Game Magazine CD at a late afternoon back in 2007-08, when I found a very old CS2D and I started playing on the airport and airplane map. It was VERY far away how the game looks now. I am proud to be apart of this masterpiece. Love everyone who is involved creating it and who played it.

Happy Birthday in Steam, the game which I have raised with.

Sometimes I miss the old regular CS2D days (Those days when CS2D was not yet in Steam) such as where people were fulfilled in those Roleplay servers killing people aimlessly and those of the zombie servers which zombies had classes "(as far as I could remember) Tank Zombie, Fast Zombie"etc.

Amazing numbers for this game haha.
Good job DC, you could've done more good things, but it's good what we have at the moment.
Hope the players will come back and continue playing this game.
CONGRATULATIONS!

Hope the new update brings decent stuff this time, congratulations for the sucess. I still play cs2d sometimes (not much compared to the past) but is something I will never forget and have a special place in my heart.
So many hours wasting to improve the skill and many friends I've made, some of them I meet irl.

Even though i never fully enjoyed CS2D myself, im very proud of this accomplishment, having been a huge fan & supporter of the Stranded series and Carnage contest over the past 7 years.
