Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, i have a desire to discuss with the site administration the question of changing the aliases of those users whose accounts are empty for more than three years. When creating an account, many users are faced with the fact that the selected aliases are already occupied, and the user who has accepted it for the service does not exist on the site or in the game for 10 years. You can change them to nicknames like "Empty", "Empty1", "Empty2" and so on, or you can delete their accounts altogether, on the one hand this idea is extremely interesting and even useful, but on the other hand, it is a big mistake, because many users will not be pleased to find out that their account has been deleted after they returned.
Offer alternatives or challenge my point of view, I will be grateful for the answers and understanding.

This subject has been discussed and declined before.

× Old users may want to come back. They won't be able to login when their name got changed. It's quite unlikely but not impossible. So a proper implementation of that idea would require an email notification to warn users about an impending auto-rename, give them time to login to prevent it and then another email to notify them that their name has been changed (in case they didn't log in within like a month or something). That's not a super simple process and I don't really want to implement it.

× It will destroy old contributions. Threads, posts, uploads, messages. Wherever users referred to other users via nick, not using the awesome user-tag, you won't be able to understand things properly anymore when everyone suddenly has random "EmptyX" nicks.

I understand why you want this to happen but no, sorry, I won't rename or delete old accounts. There are more than enough possible nicks and with a tiny bit of creativity everyone should manage to find a free one. Especially here as there aren't that many users (compared to many other platforms).

I have a friend who came back after 7 years of inactivity they do not have to change the name of those accounts since that person can return to play after many years.

but I would agree that they can change the name of a prohibited account, since it will never be used again

Maybe you should think of a more unique nickname, it's not 1999 anymore (oh man, the old nicknames of that era have got something special). There're only 150k+ accounts on us.de

My nick is only used by like 5-10 other people on the internet. And it's has remained unchanged for 10 years. My guess is that "Outcast" is occupied nearly everywhere.
