"New maps, new pr0blems.." as title? There is a very good reason that "problem" is not allowed. Please try to find a GOOD title which TELLS us what the thread is ACTUALLY about. Can't be that hard. Fixed that for you /DC

Some of the new maps have a lot more decoration (sprites and decals) which has a negative impact on rendering performance.

There's currently no direct way to tackle that problem. I already considered to implement a checkbox to disable decoration-only sprites for low-end systems. I can't tell you though if I'll actually do that (or when). It's not a trivial change because existing maps would have to be adjusted (flag decoration sprites as decoration) to make such a feature work properly

There are some general approaches to improve performance though:

• disable (advanced) light, shadow and rader
• try OpenGL/DirectX in win/fullscreen (performance can vary A LOT)
• update your system (especially latest video card drivers!)

Did you check for new drivers and try DirectX/OpenGL mode in win and fullscreen mode?

That's the only thing that might help.
If it doesn't I guess you have to stick to the classic maps

Having 30/40 framerate isn't that problematic unless it gets lower or even worse. You should consider upgrading your graphics card with a newer one if your motherboard allows it to.

Hi zoe,

to user MuzzyTk the same thing happens, have to play on the map de_dust_classic and not de_dust because the fps are lowered and it works very bad.

it must be something with cs2d

@user slimK: His VSync is already disabled as you can see in his screenshot.

Apparently the GPU is too slow to render the additional sprites on the new maps with decent FPS.

I will add an option to disable rendering of decoration sprites and adjust standard maps accordingly. I hope that this will help to improve the FPS.

@user SkullFace: That would probably work but he'll get errors when starting the map locally and when he joins a server he should receive the missing files via file transfers so it wouldn't help to delete them.

Of course you lag because you chose OpenGL as renderer. Even on modern PC CS2D can lag with OpenGL.

Choose DirectX, uncheck shadows, uncheck tile animation.

Then you will not lag.
