As the title said. DC, you should do something with the CS2D Steam update bro. It re-install the original files and all my mod files is gone, all my hours of hardwork for the mod is now completely go to the TRASH because CS2D on Steam update. Even the settings/options and the sever setting is reset as well...

Last night my mod is on 80% complete and this morning I woke up it restart at 0%. All the HUD, the stuff that I mod in, all the sound I record and mix for the mod all GONE.

I mean... come on? really bro? Update reset everything? Seriously?
Gone for good.

But did you recovered your files? It's always possible to recovers lost files, especially in this scenario.

It looks like it's a problem, I wouldn't suggest making a mod with CS2D from steam library.

@user SQ: Trying to, all the files in the trashcan are only 80% compelete, I can restore them but then I have to redone the last 20% again. Such a waste of time. All the GFX files are ez. But the sound files is the problem, all the gun sound that I record and edit is gone. There's no backup.

My mod is a total conversion, damn... I'm pissed off. I spent a lot of time for all the contents that I mod in and now just because a simple "patch" and it turn all the work into nothingness. It wasn't even leave the settings alone, it reset it as well. Both option and sever settings.

Damn...
Gone for good.

I'm pretty sure you can restore 100% what was deleted. There are bunch of topics about this steam update in the internet. It looks like a common problem.

@user SQ: It's not deleted. It gets overwrited. Hopeless.

I know, but I told it's a common problem. Steam ain't that stupid, they wouldn't overwrite everything without option to restore files.

In any case very sorry for that. This might also happen because new updates added steam clouds sync which probably wiped all old system files.

Steam update doesn't remove the files / or scripts
even if Steam overwrites server.lua you will still be having your scripts on your lua folder

if your Scripts are on the server.lua then badluck for you.

never put your scripts on server.lua

Instead of overwriting my cs2d files immediately, I copied them to the steam's cs2d and overwrote their files in there.

Now I have my cs2d files all normal again, including my 2012 stuff.

@user apex2d: I mod directly in the Steam CS2D folder. The morning I login Steam it auto-update the patch/fix for CS2D then it overwrite all the gfx & sfx files that I mod in. Everything I mod in is now turn back into the original.

There's not "previous version" to restore anywhere. I don't make backup. I get the finished files to the Steam's CS2D folder directly.
Gone for good.

Steam Overwrites existing file.

If your GFX is not the Default CS2D GFX then Steam will not Replace / Overwrite

I recommend to do mods in separate CS2D folders (not Steam) and synch the work at Github or Google Drive (Dropbox alternatively).

Github is totally better but harder to use. If you want a private mod, try other git repositories.

Don't sync gfx mods using git though
