Hey .. It may not be clear from title .. and dont take this as troll or anything related to because im being serious ..
i am an old member of this community .. had great moment .. met great friends .. it was good overall .. had to go for a very long moment .. but i still made some free time and came to take look in here from time to time ..
Its alot more colder than it was before .. empty ... boring ... barely dead .. game developpement so slow .. i can understand .. everybody has a life and things to do ... but what about tryin to revive it ? like servers in cs2d are more than playing players rlly ... i still remember when it was 200 .. 300 players .. servers were all full .. it was great .. so why dont we make few officials servers .. with various and different gameplays .. which most people would go in .. at least u wont be lost on that server list ... and these servers will also be well made .. good scripts .. good supervisors .. 1 community. i find this alot better than 100 empty servers with a 10 years old kid hosting it ..

In fact, we've never had so much activity in the past few months
Steam greenlight and a russian YouTuber brought us some activity into the game, when it gets on steam we will have a ton of players to play with.
And those golden ages will return, even more goldy this time. (Unless Iran town screws it up again)

Most problems with people who left their servers. They have their own life, they grow and have families. Someone just lost interest of this game.

If we'd have chance to have old scripts and maps from these users i'm sure we will fine with good moderating.
I didn't even read your thread fully but worst problem is that i can't host a server due to my shitty settings. And also ddosing not allow me to have it(since stupid fuckers still ddos even those poor servers, such as retard blocker.xoxoxo).

I completely agree with you that something needs to be done with the serverlist. Maybe a first board for active servers and the last board for empty servers, inbetween the LAN and recently joined board etc? I dont know, but right now the serverlist is a big mess.

I would like official servers too, but with 100 servers I doubt that will be an option.

Guys you know you can sort the servers by playercount? That way you can see through the serverlist clearly. So it's not necesarry to create another tab for "active servers"

it's not about active and empty servers, but rather good and shitty servers, as i said before if i were a new player of cs2d and i went for the servers with most players, such as iran town, there is a huge chance that i'll rq and never come back, now keep in mind that cancerous modded servers have always been part of cs2d, but the difference in the last couple of years is that there are no other options, sometimes PCS servers get players but it's not enough to compete with the shitty servers. An example would be the last wave of new players (russians mainly) where now I believe most of them have left the game.

So yes the idea of few good servers being always at the top sounds good, something like 5 servers each server represents a game mode, this way it'll get players because everyone can see it and new players get a chance to try the 'real' cs2d.

@user CaneCorso: It's a pain to read text which is written like yours. Please form proper sentences and group multiple sentences into logical groups aka paragraphs by using line breaks. Thank you.

Face the facts: thread cs2d Russian YouTube video-maker make video about CS2D attracted tons of new people but CS2D wasn't attractive enough to keep many of them in the game in long term.

Conclusion: Despite massive and extremely time consuming efforts from user SQ, user smn, some others and me to improve and polish the game, the game is still not "good" enough to keep a big player base attracted.

This is not a big surprise as the game exceeded a lifetime of 10 years which is already longer than most multiplayer games are "alive".

Also the few people who actively play the game mostly play heavily scripted weird variations which are very confusing to new players. Newbies most likely expect a vanilla 2D conversion of CS. But they don't get that online when simply joining the next best server. I would leave the game instantly as well after joining a weird CS2D server with crazy mods and non-CS-like game play. I think it would help if more people would play normal vanilla CS2D. I can't or don't want to force anyone to do that though.

Please realize that these "OMFG CS2D DIES! DO SOMETHING!"-threads are entirely useless. We have like 100 of them now and a new one is created every few weeks. Stop it please. Just stop it unless you have a REALLY good idea.

Servers are certainly not the problem. There are enough servers with good latency (at least in Germany, might be a different thing for a few "exotic" countries).

Next step from dev side is to release CS2D on Steam. This might help a bit but I guess it won't have a significant impact unless the game is promoted somewhere as well.
