user Simonas and I are working on the upcoming release of Counter-Strike 2D. Today we're able to present you a little pre-release to show you some of the changes and new features

Changelog has written:
FIXED Main menu music kept playing when game server was started with commandline parameters
FIXED Game no longer crashes when running a Lua script without a mod.txt
FIXED Newlines (\n) printed to the console are processed properly (replaced with a whitespace character)
FIXED You were able to spawn/equip items with bad type IDs, leading to weird results
FIXED sv_restart/restart/sv_restartround/restartround caused unjustified and misleading console error output in some cases
CHANGED Dropped item mouseover is now sorted depending on their type and their price
CHANGED Game will always try to load files with the original extension first before trying alternative extensions
CHANGED hudtxt/hudtxt2 network data is now sent in separate packages to prevent connection loss on many calls
CHANGED arial.ttf replaced with free liberationsans.ttf for licensing reasons
CHANGED Standard resolution is now 16:9 instead of 4:3
CHANGED Some performance optimizations
CHANGED Loading now happens during intro screen with visible loading bar
ADDED More color codes for dropped item mouseover (dark yellow = secondary weapon, orange = grenades, green = equipment)
ADDED More detailed error message when CS2D fails to load animated multi frame images because of bad image dimensions
ADDED reqcld mode 5 (mod info)
ADDED Script command spawnitem now also accepts item names instead of type IDs only (like equip and strip)
ADDED Experimental 3D rendering mode (settings command: render3d)
ADDED Experimental dynamic recoil & crosshair (settings command: mp_recoil)
ADDED Editor and main menu use full resolution
ADDED New editor display option to either use full resolution or to show gameplay view
ADDED Buying menu shows spinning 3D weapons


Of course the biggest change is the new resolution/screen ratio of 16:9 (thread cs2d CS2D HD Aspect Ratio Update (16:9 or 16:10))

Moreover there is a very experimental 3D mode now which has already been showcased here: thread cs2d CS2D in 3D
Note that this feature is in a very early development stage and still has a lot of problems. Many maps will look pretty wrong with it. 3D rendering can be toggled at any time using the setting in the menu or the command
render3d
.

Furthermore user Simonas implemented a dynamic recoil system (thread cs2d CS2D Dynamic Crosshair and Aiming Update). It is enabled by default in this version but can be disabled with the setting
mp_recoil 0
. The values are balanced only very roughly and of course this feature still needs a lot of fine tuning.

This pre-release is for Windows only. You can download it here:

Note: This is the full game package. I highly recommend to extract it to a new empty folder. Alternatively you can rename CounterStrike2D.exe and put it into your existing CS2D folder.

Boii, finally. Let's see how it works out then

After testing a bit, default res still looks the best to me
I even thought that it would lag more, but it seems that it lags even less now, even with rendering in 3D, it still doesn't lag as much as before.

Will we get something to determine a players resolution to adjust the hudtxt / image positioning,

Works neat as it seems for the moment (I didn't test all the features), no issues. Although every time I shoot with my weapon and check the Console it shows this:
Console has written:
fa recoil sv: a 79.9874420 p 1

Is this intended to be a debug message?

Oh, by the way I made some adjustments for de_dust tileset as default. Heights might look odd for other tilesets sometimes.

Not sure if you are gonna have this in the final release but i found bug with it atleast.

If you shoot with any weapon the recoil circle will come up, switch to knf and back to the primary weapon and the recoil is reseted, much faster than it would if i would stop shooting and wait for the recoil circle to go away, just figured i would tell u

EDIT: Found another bug, when using the Editor, the pointer is not calculated correctly with the layout. Not sure how to say it correctly but check it our for yourselves

Yeah, about dynamic buildings -> we doesn't render them yet.

And knife issue -> it's because knife variables are not yet set. I've just manage to set variables for classic weapons from id's 1 to 40.
But thanks for telling me!

@user lillGuggish: Editor -> known for me. There are two drawing modes, one has wrong input.

@user SlimPT: I suggest using standard mode for window mode. And something 800*600 for fullscreen. But fullscreen should adapt to your display.
