@user StirlizZ-Fapicon: Yes because CS2D is on a completely different league of complexiness!

The main problems of these projects are the fact that they are REALLY REALLY time consuming and that there's lack of motivation from the developers (which is pretty understable). Play2D is one of the cases where this happens.

rI would like to know in what graphics view will be in final version of this project ? The same cartoon style as in cs2d? Or you add parallax features and will try to find good artists to do it in a more realistic style with pseudo 3D?

How will it be to work player camera, fixed or dynamically move, depending on the position of the cursor?
Can you write your concept document with indication of plan, order and prioritize of work on each element or a feature.

We're using the scrum method, so this is not really possible to share, seeing as work is prioritized each sprint instead of for the whole project. This also depends on numerous factors.

You'll get updates as soon as we have updates to share.

As for the artwork goes, we're trying to reach out to @user Majatek to see if he would like to help out. So we do not know the exact direction of the artwork yet, this is set by the initial designer. I can tell you that it must be as easy as possible to modify the GFX without it looking out of place.

As user Yates has stated we will leave the artwork to an artist, however I would prefer to keep the cartoonish style (we will see, though).

The standard graphics will come in a higher resolution than in standard CS2D, but we plan to add functionality for lower or even custom resolutions (this is rather simple in Unity).

The dynamic camera ist not planned at the moment (but actually seems rather cool thinking about it).

We are currently working on basic gameplay, maps, networking and lighting and plan to work on the lua early next year.

Anyway, here's the sprites, still 2d and looks a lot more interessting than actual ones.

@user _Yank: Got to figure out how to use the normal map, I just saw a video on youtube of what they are. But I'm not sure yet on how I'm going to implement the actual lighting using the normal map. (I'm working on the light engine by the way)

@user Starkkz: Cool. There's some good articles out there that present good information and guides about the topic, some also using unity, I really suggest you to have a look at them (usually they're also more informative than videos).

Well, I usually announce stuff when they are in the progress for quite some time. As far as I can see there is no clear image of what this project might look like. I may suggest to pass with 2D tile engine and use something more creative which would support old CS2D maps as well.

@user Pagyra: Don't worry we won't take as long as you with your (still in development) template mod.

@user SQ: Good to see you around again. We've already got map loading working but this will be a one way import, like you said, we don't want to limit ourselves with the current method. As for showing this, it's just a simple map, so that's why we haven't posted anything about it. But I'm sure if anyone really wants to see progress with that user Hador will be happy to post.
