The problem with the discussion of "We need a new CS2D!" is that no one actually steps up, apart from user Starkkz that one time, and starts to build one.

If you really want a new CS2D, please, go make one, go start just like user Starkkz (and user _Yank if I'm not mistaken) did and ask for help when you need it. I am 100% confident that people will be willing to help, but so far this has been all words and no play. I'm not trying to be judgmental here, it's just annoying to see 10 threads and 200 posts every year with people saying that they are going to overhaul the game or build a new one yet in fact no one actually does (It even took user smn at least a year for his overhaul which is currently in use and he still needs to finish the maps).

If someone believes they can and wants to build a new CS2D in full (not just a single aspect), tell everyone here and now. You will receive the help you want in the aspects you lack experience or want to do.

One last thing, until the lighting and crashing bugs are solved the game will not be on Steam, that would be suicide and ruin any chances. Know that DC does care and wants this as much as anyone else yet is either too busy or cannot solve bugs in a timely fashion (or not at all).

Then I will hereby announce the beginning of yet another CS2D overhaul. Anyone willing to participate has until the 21.12.2016 to write me a PM with who they are, what they can do and what time they are willing to invest into this project. Further details will follow.

The exact development tools and languages etc. will be announced as soon as I know who will be helping me and what the qualifications are that they bring with them.

Any questions can also be sent by PM.

The aim is to build a modular and moddable CS2D that resembles the existing one in as many aspects as is realistic, however nonetheless using an agile software process.

@user DC: please state your opinion on this idea, we can surely all profit from any help, ideas or criticism you may have.

@user Hador: I appreciate that idea. If you should manage to make a good new CS2D we could even discuss to declare the current one as deprecated and to offer the new one for download at CS2D.com (if this is something you're interested in).

We could also discuss to provide you with relevant parts of the original code from CS2D but only if there is a serious person or team with proper programming experience, time and dedication to work on the project.

As user Yates already stated: Of course I'm interested in keeping CS2D alive but I do not have the necessary time/resources to do so in an adequate way. It's very hard to work on Stranded III and to maintain the website and CS2D in my limited spare time.

@user Hador: I would like to ask that: you pay for it it?Well, I can make a website for free, I was telling you about in PM.However, I don't think there's someone else there who would be willing to help for free. Let them at least not for money, but at least some reward.

@user DC: I have the same question.

We did it , thread objective has been reached. Let's make that new CS2D.

√ Now I'm able to make the CS2D Team for now
√ Moreover we are going to create new CS2D engine

cookies I am glad for this reason that the Unreal Software community finally started to help user DC .

@user Gaios: I just don't see anybody with programming skills. Have I missed something?

@user kerker: This project is strictly free of payment. So basically the Deal for everyone willing to participate is: You do it for free or we will find someone Else to do it, no exceptions.

And to All those who have already contacted me: Thank you for your support; I will send out a message to all core developers as soon as I have chosen an engine and created the core framework so that we can get going as soon as possible.

@user Gaios: You should probably let user Hador decide, after all he just proposed to lead a team.
But you can send him a private message anyway.

@user kerker: You don't?

@user Hador: I agree with such conditions, actually. I was only asking out of interest, thanks for the info.

@user Starkkz: If you're talking about my skills related to game creation... I don't know anything related to making games.

Why don't you guys just help user Starkkz with his Play2D? It's essentially CS2D with more features.

@user Rainoth: as user Starkkz has pointed out to me, there may be some trouble due to lua not being a very Object friendly scripting language, however I will definately take his code into consideration, as it most definately already has the most progress of all. I will decide on that some other time, possibly later this week.

@user Rainoth: That code is horrible, I have been thinking seriously into changing to another framework because I cannot just stand not being able to use real object oriented programming.

I've been trying to use dirty workarounds to do that though, but I still have run into other problems like not having a map to test everything.

Edit: But Play2D wouldn't actually be CS2D, the idea said here was to make a new CS2D and that user DC would change the download link to the new one.

@user Gaios: I could make a light engine like that, however I would be depending on the existence of textured mesh(es) in whatever programming language it's going to be made. (if you want to get custom shadows for different images)

The only problem that I don't know how to solve is casting SOFT shadows WITHOUT using blur.

@user Starkkz: I don't mean light engine.. can't you realize that CS2D uses blocks to build map, and at the video the game uses objects like stone, trees.

By the way... anyone know what engine planned to use in new CS2D? I ask solely out of curiosity.

Basically; no, no one does yet.
