old Windows 10: Flickering / blinking in Half Life

After purchasing a copy of Windows 10 Home edition and doing some tweaks, changes on my own, I run on an issue which it kinda messes me up. When I run Half Life on Steam, the screen starts flickering / blinking with black borders.

What's the oddest part is it suddenly disappears and returns normally without blinking or flickering when I try to launch this game many times (minimum 3-4 - it might vary). I've also tried in Windowed mode and I don't experience any issue at all. Dunno what's the root behind this. Pretty much everything is up to date, the OS itself updates automatically, my graphics driver is up to date too.

So yeah, no idea whatsoever. I guess it has to do with the Windows 10 itself? Oh and to not forget my graphics card is Intel HD Graphics. A poor GPU to be honest but it does the job in old games.

Yeah, you should try to run it in Windows 7 compability mode.

Quite off topic but, if you know what version of Intel HD graphics your GPU is you should have a look at IntelliModder 32 custom driver, it is a modded driver that runs along some tweaks that increase its performance (BTW, if you're interested in getting it, you should disable windows 10 automatic driver updates (at least for the GPU)).

@user _Yank / @user The Grim Reaper: Alright, changed the compatibility mode to Windows 7 to see what's doing. It fully got rid of this problem now. In other words, it is indeed an actual problem of Windows 10. I will also take a look at IntelliModder 32 but not at the moment. Thanks for your suggestion user _Yank.

@user Black Wolf: At least this OS is enough stable to do usual stuff and covering my needs so I think it's not such of a big mistake.

@user Black Wolf: How so?

Windows 10 finally has a package manager, a better terminal, file encoding system (finally no more merge problems with Unix systems). It's faster, cleaner and is no longer a bitch with dual booting or changing BIOS settings.

Also, FORCED UPDATES. Finally no dipshits can get infected because they don't upgrade their shit and pass it along to other people. One OS and not a ton so once every person finally upgrades then no more problems with applications not running on different versions, because everyone will nearly have the same one.

Hate Microsoft stealing your data? Don't use a Microsoft account when using Windows 10 and they won't steal your shit. Problem solved.

Sorry I went off-topic, but I hate people talking bull when they have no idea what they are on about.

As long as Microsoft doesn't throw out their own garbage into the throats of all the Auto Updaters, this will be a good point. It's not like mistakes never happen. Remember when the bluescreens occured because of failed updates? That shit caused trouble with a lot of systems forcing the owners to get their Windows wiped and installed again and therefore lose all their data? That's why I always update only every three months when I know that everything is okay. Now I don't really know how Windows 10 is doing with updates. Maybe you can tell me something about that. I assume when they force you to download them they just do it as soon as possible. In this case it would be bad because then Windows would download freshly released updates that may cause problems because they are broken in one or another way.
