PCS website is fully accessible at www.cs2d.net . But since we dont see often people from unrealsoftware getting involved into it, we sometimes come here and bring you juicy stuff

Below, enjoy the article made by Milriko, who gathered up from old archives all the info about one of the most important tournament events of this game, the 1v1 tournament, WCL. Enjoy the read !

World Champions League is THE tournament in Counter-Strike 2D. Forming 1on1 competitions, Sz3L3K, founder of WCL would not even dream about having so much glory upon his creation. Today I will try to present you the archives of World Champions League, starting from the first edition and going eleven steps further.

WCL's first edition was kicked-off with incredible number of players (40). We have to remember that most of them was Polish, as the Polish community was the main one back in old days. There was no surprise at the time that semifinals were battled between four players from Poland - Qube, Andit, Cyprien and R3D1. The first game was |Storm_PL|'s vs =[DoD]='s battle between QuBe and Andit. Nobody thought at that time that the first real 1on1 game in CS2D was a prophecy of storm's and dod's big rivalry. |Storm_PL|'s vice leader won 25:15 and advanced to the final. He had to face Cyprien, [UsK] player, who won 22:18 versus R3D1. Here are the scores of the main events :
3rd Place Match :
Andit 23 vs 21 Redi

FINAL:
Cyprien 21 vs 19 Qube
The only worthy thing to add is that both QuBe and R3D1 are still around after all these years and we can sometimes spot them here on PCS or playing public/mixmatches games.

WCL v2 had over 40 players registered. First World Champions League editions were played without any Anti-Cheat software, so everything could happen. The only judging eyes were the ones in spectactor, but CS2D was still fresh, so people didn't really knew much about cheats. Of course except for those who used them  . Once again, all of the semifinalists were Polish. This edition was a total dominance of sC.[-UzZ-] players. Swat smashed Barbossa with 31:9 score only to face his clanmate Point in the final. 21:19 score allowed swat to conquer WCL's world. 3rd place match between |Storm_PL| ~Barbossa and Haos|BTC|PL was not played. Judging by old archives, they both sat on the third's place throne.

3rd edition of the biggest CS2D's 1vs1 championships lacked of interest, but still had a stable number of 32 players. Both [-UzZ-] and [UsK] had one of WCL's trophy in their hall of fame, so as we can predict, the road to finals were pretty sick. Number of rounds played in each match was reduced from 40 to 20. Here are the scores for Quarter and Semi finals.
Quarter Finals
1 st Place Group A vs 2 nd Place Group D
Andit 13 vs 7 Sz3L3K
1 st Place Grup B vs 2 nd Place Group A
Daniello 13 vs 7 Barbossa
1 st Place Group C vs 2 nd Place Group C
Perfect 12 vs 8 Swat
1 st Place Group D vs 2 nd Place Group B
Rybson 15 vs 5 Scarface

SemiFinals
Rybson 7 vs 13 Daniello
Perfect 15 vs 5 Andit

This time Andit did not won his match for the 3rd place. Lost with 12:8 score to Rybson, [UsK] member. The main course was again delicious. 11 perfect Perfect's rounds retrieved the trophy back to [UsK] clan.

BONUS, semifinal Perfect vs Andit : http://patrz.pl/filmy/wcl

Yes, again all of the semifinalists were Polish. But that's not the thing we should glance our eyes at. [UsK]'s leader - Perfect was motivated to be the first guy that will actually defend the trophy. He went through all his matches like a storm, but in all these thunders and smoke he did not notice the birth of a 1vs1 legend, storm's legend. There's pretty no comment to add, just look at the scores and feel Perfect's feelings as he was going to win the tournament again.
SemiFinals
Barbossa 8 vs 12 Magik

Perfect 2 vs 28 Meche

3rd place match
Barbossa 11 vs 9 Perfect

Final
Magik 4 vs 16 Meche

BONUS Medias :
group stage between Meche and Soul : https://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=PL&hl=pl&v=02OrJv7yAec
group stage between Cyprien and Revils https://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=PL&hl=pl&v=IjSOEKD2c4c

WCL v5 ended the hegemony of Polish players. Sadly, i don't have that many archives of this edition, but hold your head up high for TWO videos of final matches. One between darkill and r3tsa^^ : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2zjjmatA5c (starting at about 2:40)
and the second one between ILLECTRO and carizma : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItlzVQEpx24 . I'm not going to say who won, you just have to watch and find out on your own .
Sadly, there are no archives of WCL v6 at all. Zabijaka from [UsK] won. Third place was achieved by kartoffelchip.

As it goes for WCL v7, we had some changes. 64 players registered for this major event. There were some works on anti-cheat program by TMK, but it wasn't ready yet, even for the final match. Sadly, once again I don't have results for the final matches, except for one video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F11X2DtX3NI . Meche was so dissapointed in himself and knew that something was wrong. He trained more than he did before in his life, but swat was still unreachable. Few days after the final, both swat and Meche had final match in Polish Cup 1on1. Meche asked TMK to release a special server with anti-cheat. It turned out that swat connected for the final match using cheat version. Swat said that normal version wasn't working for him, so he played on cheat version (SICK!!! imagine such explanation nowadays!?). Sz3L3K decided that the WCL final has to be replayed and Meche won that one 18 to 14.

WCL v8 had also many close battles. In first semifinal Mag1k surprisingly won with Sz3L3K 11:5 on aim_fr33kz and lost 6:10 on de_bridge, but had more rounds, so won the match overall 17:15. Second semifinal, same score. 17:15, this time for Meche. Dmbs and Sz3L3K never really played the 3rd place match or I don't have any info about that.
In the final match we had WCL v4 rematch, Meche and mag1k. |Storm_PL| vs sC.[-UzZ-]. The war between these two clans was called "the saint war".
Meche won once again and is the first and only guy to defend WCL's trophy. He won it three times in total.

WCL v9 was supposed to be an even bigger event! We had Anti-Cheats from TMK and there were three prizes : a mouse, a keyboard and something else which i can not remember at this time. As always in World Champions League, the big favourite fails. That's why this tournament is so unique. You never know what's going to happen. Meche won the first map against RybsoN, but he was weak on de_cs2d map, which was the second one. Falling out of the tournament, he left a bit of fresh air in these competitions. Sadly, management could not afford prizes and they've decided to shut down WCL. Here is the table before the last round played.

So here we are, WCL v10. New history. There are no archives of this edition, ofc except for the final match video, you can watch it under this link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW1T2LpcNGM
First place was lord's, second went to Introgen. Third for me and fourth for Mystic. Lord was another non-Polish player to win World Champions League. Quite an achievement if you consider other three semi-finalists were Polish. With WCL v11 start we could notice that there was no longer main nationality, which was a great change for the competitions. (I've seen play-off's table for wcl v11 a couple of days before, but Ican't find it, if someone have this image then please send it to me so i can update the news). Quattro, another awesome 1vs1 player won the title versus Banger. Once again, winner wasn't Polish. To win back the trophy for Poland we had to wait until WCL v12, which was organised as WCL v13, because of management's fail. I won that one versus tank, but I don't need to talk about this one, since the section is still on our forum. I'll have to admit that WCL v13 was really unlucky for us, considering that it will be played twice. Once as WCL v12 and twice as a WCL v13, soon.
