@user Pagyra: That was probably the worst question you could have ever asked.
"Hey DC, why don't you remake CS2D?"

It was answered countless times. Just think for a few reasons yourself. Here's a few:
• It would be a lot of re-writing
• It wouldn't really be worth it unless someone payed him an enormous sum (so enormous that he probably doesn't believe anyone would pay that)
• He's working on something else

I'm pretty sure he'll reply anyways but I just wanna state that that question was SO needless.

@user DC: Yeah, the problem is that almost everything was running in a unsynchronized version of LuaJIT.
The Windows dedicated server was running the first version of LuaJIT while the Linux server and the Windows client were running the latest version, I don't know what about the Linux client.

Yeah. I'm also waiting for new lua module. I hope LuaJIT will be released again in next version of Counter-Strike 2D.

@For all the people who wants LuaJIT: I already talked with user DC and he disliked the idea.

I suggested something like a dll-based Lua module rather than that, so it would be easier to change the actual Lua engine without breaking everyone elses scripts. However this idea was just rejected even for a non-public testing executable, at least it will be like this for a long time.

user DC doesn't want to spend more time on CS2D but on Stranded III development.

@user MikuAuahDark: This.

I tried it with LuaJIT last time and it caused a ton of trouble and broke old Lua scripts. I already invested much time at that point. I had to roll back to the old version and release a new CS2D version which took even more time.

Lesson learned: Don't change a running system. I won't try to switch the Lua stuff again too soon because it's almost certain that it will break a shit ton of stuff.

It's not worth the trouble. Maybe later.

That quote is actually about fully switching - which really won't happen in near future. Not about having a second version with LuaJIT - which is another story.

It's a very annoying thing to deal with building versions on/for different platforms and I really don't want to do it now. Especially because I know that some things are broken and that the LuaJIT version won't be stable and therefore rather useless. Which means that
a) it's a waste of time to quickly make one (more ore less)
b) I would have to invest hours to make a more stable/complete one (which I don't want to at the moment because I have other priorities)

Sorry.
