You must use a .BMP format to CS2D can read your tile.

I always use png for both sprites and tilesets because they take up less space. Not to mention transparency is awesome.

Nope, my mistake. You can have all of formats in CS2D but CS2D set pink color as transparent in .BMP file. PNG support a transparent but not as pink color, but transparent in image.

To add user Bounty Hunter posts: but you can't create transparent background in Microsoft Paint.

@user Fraizeraust: Short Answer: Yes.
Long Answer: It's possible, but you may getting bad result if you resize a picture to tile.

Note: i don't recommended saving tiles as .jpg, because jpg causes quality loss.

Well i suggest you to use a rogram that supports layering. Why? You will create your files faster and its more user friendly. With a simple paint tool (ms paint for example) you will need at least 4times longer to create the same file.
