Hey, i was just thinking in my head, What if or is it possible to make a full conversion for cs2d into an mmoRpg. not like what tibia has done, but more so just sticking with the basics of having a character in which you can customise with different clothing, weapons, medkits that you find/loot, an inventory system to which you can hold the the stuff you find, add in a whole bunch of new weapons. everyone that plays on the server has a wrench to build with. an the maps are really large with plenty of places to explore. enemies/zombies randomly on the map. in which you kill an get stuff from maybe. you can team up with or vs other players if they choose to (pvp). Things like that. If anyone has any comments or opinions Please feel free to reply

CS2D is not designed to work this way. Of course you could do that to a certain extent but there are limits because the core engine of CS2D is still a simple topdown shooter engine and not made for MMORPGs.

Also your "idea" is basically "make something really large which works like an MMORPG" which is obviously nothing new.

You're probably right. but still when i look at all the mods/scripts people have made, it makes me wonder what you can do with the game engine an scripting. i mean some people are already thinking of recreating the original Gta with it. which im sure it could be done

CS2D lacks the first M of MMO. Unless you wrote a custom dedicated server that has a "window" system, making the client aware of only the clients inside ( or very near, to reduce popping in/out of players with high ping ) their viewing area. But writing a dedicated server for a closed source game is no easy task. So, not MMO for the time being.

It is possible after changing network code of game.
Currently with lua scripts you can only create an multiplayer online role-playing game (MORPG) with 32 players like this:

@user Pagyra: Hmm... I can try to make it.. but I won't because I will need sounds, gfx and I don't think someone will take the time to do it.

Well.. I can only say u guys, that I'm doing this project about 6 months now.. And it's pretty looks MORPG with bilion weapons, cloths and advanced masteries/skills. I'm thinkin about edit game code for it and host own 100 players server.. Or at least ask DC for it like CS 1.6 have mods to additional players.. But atm it's only an idea. I hope to release it in next month. And then I will need beta testers..

wasn't really looking for 1000+ players to be in the server lol like even 16 players on a server would be good enough. hell i would even play the mod offline just cus of what you can do. IF it is possible to whatever extent, i would gladly help with all but scripting for it.

btw pagyra, what mod/game is that in the pic's you posted? & Fehu, if you would like any help or testers, i will do so

I think in our community there are people who want to try to implement the idea of "multi server "

Idea :
Expand the number of players playing together on one map beyond 32 players.

Realization of the idea :
Running the same map on multiple servers , synchronization of data exchange between servers, emulation players playing on other servers.

A little more detail :
Each server save information about all players which play on it in a special file, and it reads data from similar files (saved by other servers) and recreates (emulates) player(images).
In a similar manner, work exchange of game events between all servers.

@user Pagyra:

I already made this a couple of years ago or so and it was working quite good. It was tested with up to 4 full servers (used some bots as well) and had a latency of like 5ms when every server was full, so I guess it went well..

Well @user sixpack: - upload this lua script, and we'll see whether it is possible to use it, or can be further optimized.
Currently I'm interested in this for the implementation on the servers for my mods.

Update:
At the this moment, i have a idea to combine multiple servers and multiple of my mods in the one gameplay - for example:
At first server player play as pirate ship and he sails and fight with see monster or other ships in the sea, but if his ship sails near coast of the island - then we reroute player to another server, where he will play as character and walk around the island and trade, fight, search for treasures in caves, or try escape or fight against the invasion of evil, ...
And as i think it will have more interesting gameplay than standart is - because it is variable (for scripters - servers is module) game.
