Hi everyone.

This topic concerns mainly cs2d server hosting, well i've got some problems with my servers. When too much people are online in same time on my server it starts lagging for unknown reason. However, my vps is not so crap from "max-hebergs.net" and "harmony-hosting" (1GB of ram, unlimited traffic, 50gb disk space, a good processor) this is superior to the minimum requirments from cs2d.com site.. Indeed i've protected my vps with fail2ban, iptables, rkithunter and logwatch and nothing was wrong on cs2d logs what can i do ? I'm using Debian 6.06 32 bits edition right now if it can help you.

Those are only system specifications from the VPS. You should run a speed test such as:

wget http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test

I would also disable any scripts (MAPNAME.lua, server.lua) you may have running in the background.

I think the reason is very obvious in this case. Your server is not able to handle that many players. Limit the max. player amount by using cs2d cmd sv_maxplayers.

This can either be caused by a bad server connection / limited bandwidth or by the server hardware.

Also in case you are using Lua scrips: Try without them. Some Lua scripts take a lot of performance and cause lags.

cs2d doesn't need much hardware to run.

The main issue is server connectivity or the host is overselling the amount of virtual server's the physical server can handle which causes constant overload.

lone has one of the best server's in North America in account for overall connectivity to player's around the world as well as bullet registration between players. We're only running on 512mb's of RAM and 1 cpu core but with a 1Gbps network port.
