hmmm...suddenly?

I have a theory...it's a long shot.

how many fires do you have burning?

try putting out all your fires and see if sprint lag goes away?
campfires, torches, and forges.
I have heard or read somewhere fire/light is hard on the engine.

then I wont ask you to test anything for at least a week:) you've done good, ty.

I don't mind testing things, and this I don't really have to, because it happens from the very beginning, before I even set up a fire. It's not a new thing either, since I didn't even know I COULD sprint until someone mentioned the lag with it.

Yes, it's true. I wrote to You about this above.

And I tested, it is enough to ignite 4-5 campfire near (or to plant 50+ fertilized grains),to FPS decreased twice The game engine is not able to render this highlights glow. This is a big problem in the game.

May be to reduce glow from the campfire and fertilized plantings....?
So, I made 7 campfires. After that, turns the camera began to move jerkily.I have not seen the impact of the torches and forge on the fps(lags). I have lags occurs even in the main menu of the game, right after logo Unreal Software.
Lags in the sprint, I don't really bother. I'm not so often run
2- There is still another problem. If after the message "Summer (Fall,Winter,Spring) arrives in 10 days" to make a save game , and load it 2-4 times, then Summer(Fall,Winter,Spring) comes immediately. So I got the winter on the 22nd (!!!) day stay on the island.
Oh! Sorry for my bad English..... Here is an example:message"Winter arrives in 10 days" - Save-Load(load,load,load)- get new message "Winter arrives in 3 days" ; Again Save-Load(load,load,load)-get message "Winter arrives"
p.s. Thanks for the updates of the game and Your work.

If you have Sprint Lag(lag when running holding the SHIFT key), go to My Computer/ Control Panel/ Performance Information and Tools

Windows 7-8

Take a look at your Subscore and Base Score. If any of the 5 categories are below 4.8 it is likely the cause of this Sprint Lag. Especially if it is in the category of Graphics or Gaming Graphics. Any of them though may be causing lag problems.

Rate and Improve your computers performance:
You can click the Re-Run the assessment after updating your drivers or what every you have to do to increase your lowest Subscores.

If YOU have sprint lag, I would be interested in knowing what YOUR lowest score is and in what category. Windows 7 or 8?

Myst,
totally agree...both chickens and roosters volume has been lowered to a more tolerable level. Chickens will "cluck" less often too. √

Zenonx,
I have reduced fire light/distance to increase performance on most computers. √

Base score 5.9

There is a small lags when sprint....For me it is not critical.
JJ, In the last update I have not found a fix ethanol lamp. Files items_tools and combinations_crafting the same as in 02_01_2014. Or may be I do not watch it?

Pretty, but barely playable compared to Stranded II on land.

Really great for a free computer game, and thanks for
the time you and others have spent building it.

thank you all for your feed back. Will continue to look for resolution to sprint lag.

Zenonx,
Check the To-Do list at the top of page one. Some things that are fixed are not yet added to the update, but will be in the next update. The ethanol lantern is fixed and will be in the next update.

the hourly tick only comes once every 3 hours...instead of every hour.

For this is my gratitude, is real now a lot less freezing for game. I'm happy as an pink elephant
But he cause of lag on sprint will be very difficult to resolve. It has limitations of the game engine.
There was an offer of winter. To sit the whole season near the fire boring, but build campfires around the island is stupid. Some types of food can relieve you from frostbite (at some time). For example: hot coffee, chocolate, rum, etc., that is quite logical. Enough to ascribe to the properties of food //freestate "unit",1,"frostbite";//and to put a timer. How to write correctly timer I don't know. I am not a programmer. It is You get better. It's Your decision.

Myst,
actually you can feed them grain, cornseed, fertile grain, or fertile cornseed. Currently.

if you put plain grain in the Coop they eat it faster then if you put cornseed...they eat the cornseed faster then they eat the fertile grain. Finally, if you put in fertile cornseed, it will feed them for the longest period of time.

growing grain is easy vs growing fertile corn...so it should give more reason to grow corn/fertile...if chickens ate them all the same it would be counter productive to grow corn when you could easily make grain instead.

This will all be in the Diary under Chicken Coop ofcoarse...Im also going to make 2 new items "Chicken Feed" and "Premium Chicken Feed" (grain+corn=CF and fertilegrain+fertilecorn=PCF). The "feeds" will feed them the longest.

Zenonx,
Nice idea for coffee, rum and hot coco!!! I WILL do this in addition to my other idea for winter. That idea was to make a "heat pack" by combining "hot ore"(soft iron or soft steel) from the forge with a "skin" and tie it up with a "cord". softiron+skin+cord=heatpack

It would stay warm for a few minutes once combined.

Also, I want the Lantern& Hand Torch to aid in warmth in the winter...if your carrying a lit lantern or hand torch, you will not get frost bite.

so yes, a few things coming to help with Frostbite in winter...I agree with you and felt the same way always running to fire in winter.

Thanks, You me amused.
I imagine a person who is molten iron ingot in their pants. After a few minutes you can reach down in his pocket 2 fried eggs....do not need a frying pan.
But seriously, lantern & Hand Torch is a reasonable solution. Although it will give survivalist excessive permanent bonus against frostbite. When I started playing this mod long ago, I tried walking with a lamp (or hand torch) in winter I thought it saves.....vainly))

old game freeze

i've been having this problem a lot. the game just freezes when im busy. i made a shelter and was gathering rocks for a campfire when i found a plethora of animals good for hunting. i was thinking to make a suggestion about marking places on your map where good resources are, but immediately i grabbed my spear to hunt, the game froze and i couldn't get it back unless i deleted the current game... and it wouldn't save so i couldn't find the place anymore!

P.S i NEED someone to play multiplayer it is a very good mode!

Suggestion: you could add a multiplayer to this game instead!

rickie,
this mod has a lot of graphics and a lot of moving objects and effects. The engine is being pushed to it's limits, but "most" computers can run the .exe with no problems.

Some computers have issues with this engine depending on your system and it's configuration. Some issues some players are having I cannot fix.

There are many factors why you game could freeze. Maybe you got a bad download(re-download)...maybe you edited some of the code and created a problem? Or maybe your system cannot handle some specifics of the game? Like your ram memory is to low? Windows 7 32 bit? (runs better on 64 bit)

An odd thing I have witnessed myself is my sisters computer lags this mod a lot too...So i turned all the graphics down under options and it helped make it playable. But I notice my higher end computer vs her lower end computer...and it's seems to be many players low end system that has problems.

My game has never froze even once in a year and a half i been working on it, I never had a save problem, and never experience sprint lag. 'Im not saying you all are crazy ...just that it's some thing I may never be able to fix. It must be on the user's end. (graphic card settings? ram settings? processor speed/settings? or simply certain "brands" run it crappy? windows 32 or 64 bit? or some combinations of all the above.)

there are many suggestions on these pages for the same issues "some" players are/have experienced...I do not have any other answers at this time...i don't know why exactly it runs laggy for some and not others. My computer is not even that great and it runs fine.

post your "subscores" from the control panel/ performance and tools please...as requested above.

It could be something as simple as a players having to many START UP PROGRAMS that start up when you boot, and they are doing maintenance or other crap in the background on your computer...for example...If you have a virus protection that does a scan while your playing would cause big lag, sprint lag, and crashes too...or some other START UP PROGRAM running in the background.

in Control Panel/Task Manager/Start Up disable all the crap you do not want running in the background. (or type in "msconfig.exe" in your computers search box.) disable the crap.

Disconnect your modem while playing offline? Turn off anti virus while your modem is disconnected and play? IDK?

You know what's weird about that sprinting lag though? When I sprint, there's horrible lag, BUT, I get zero lag when moving at high speeds with the haste potion. Hope that bit of information helps a little.

I wonder if you can reconfigure the sprinting function to act more like a temporary haste, and take it from there.

It's not really related, but wanted to tell you. As I use Linux, I tried it with Wine on a notebook with Intel HD and the game runs good (though I also have the running lag). Just to show you, how great your work is.
