@user DC: Then how does the key hook work? Can't the key hook just return what action was used as another parameter?

The Lua key hook stuff causes additional network traffic as well but the keys you want to listen to in Lua have to be defined first with cs2d lua cmd addbind. So under normal circumstances (without calling addbind) there is no additional traffic.

So for your request I would have to add commands to enable/disabling listening to certain UI events and also the hooks (and unlike the keys - which are all in one place - those are in different places and work very differently for all the stuff you mentioned). I don't think that the feature is important enough to justify the required efforts. Therefore it's unlikely that I'll add it.

recommendation:
set default download-file-size to unlimited, I dont think anyone plays cs2d with a modem anymore.
allow more tiles in tilesets,
maybe allow multiple file-downloads at once?
no borders to do quality and better stuff. Let Server-hoster decide themself how much they let their players download. Why they need to crop music or image files? I think this would allow more quality stuff for cs2d. Better than limit each file it would be more useful to show the player how much he has to download, if he want to join this server.
Maybe allow a small server-description when holding mouse over it?

Unlimited is a bad idea, at best set it to 512KB or 1MB.
That is because some badly designed servers force you to download like 10MB files and that's bad.

@Goo If you see you have to download that much and you dont want it, you can always abort it or just dont join this "badly designed server"
Question: what is the difference between 100x 250kb files and
10 x 2.5mb files?
Answer: you´re able to download the 10 files faster and the work of cropping stuff and put it together with lua, so that every player sees it wont be anymore. Also player will enjoy the better quality.

I would rather set the default to no downloads at all. It's incredibly annoying to download hundreds of files before being able to play. Every server owner who forces people to download so much should rethink his server setup.

So nope, won't reduce the limit.
But you are right: Many small files are just as annoying as some big files. Could maybe be improved by setting an overall size limit (for all files) instead of a per-file limit.

Even if people download hunderts of files, it will take about 3.5 minutes for 5mb with a d 25kb/s because no one change this default settings, even if server hoster provide 100mbit/s to 1 gbit/s in these days. Like I said, no one plays with a modem anymore. People can easily download with 500kb/s and up to 10mb/s. Of course if you download many files one by another, it increase the download time. Thats why multiple download would help at huge amount of files. How long will it take if you download 10mb with 500kb/s for example. Making limits for a filesize just force people to crop the files and split it into parts or to make it ugly. So its the default borders of CS2D which are making people waiting so long for downloading "huge" or "hunderts" of files.

I understand you DC that downloading files is not cool, but the customization of CS2D is a big fun part which you have created and we love to play. Many people love these custom servers. Some Gamestyles wouldnt be the same without these files. And I bet a lot of people would love to create fancier stuff, just these borders are restricting us in some ways.

Also while on the topic of file downloads, I hate when some files are so small they sometimes freeze the download and I have to reconnect.

That can happen with big files too.

How much loop iterations per second use CS2D Server, I mean server FPS. And is there any method to increase that number?

As far as I know there is a command in
sys_ticrate
in CS 1.6 and CS:GO.

In earlier versions it was 50, now it's 60~.
Increasing it would increase network traffic, nothing more.

Ability to spawn buildings and NPCs with a given amount of health such as:

Spawn a Zombie @ X 512, Y 512 W/ 1000 HP.
spawnnpc 1 512 512 180 1000


Spawn a Dispenser @ TX 32, TY 32 W/ 40% HP.

Make original server roleplay and Sexy Standart, cs2d is an excellent misused engine, that's why it does not shine.
since good servers left cs2d the players did too, I always wanted to see cs2d full of players again, but the stingy dc does not want to spend money. is understandable in any case, I do not criticize you.

@user M3_Quick: What exactly are you asking for? More role play or more standard servers?

• There are enough standard servers (most are empty)
• I don't know about role playing. I'm not a fan of that and therefore I wouldn't be the right person to host and maintain such a server

Also I'm pretty sure that spending money to host even more servers would just lead to more empty servers and wasted money but not more players.

Binds for mouse1 and mouse2 should not work when menu(lua or cs2d's options and all) is activated, it cause the bind working. And also all binds should be disabled while in the CS2D menu or console: player in those menus could not move or fire, so the added binds, caught in lua, should be also stopped for that period being in menu/console.

I wanted to do for RP, something like a walkie-talkie.
But when I looked on the wiki,I found nothing.

I thought I could somehow find out from the player what button voice.

Yes can be done on x... but suddenly the x button the player anything not tied down?

For example, the hook voice will return parameters such as :
1 : id : player ID
2 : status : status press or release as in hook key
3 : team : does the player in team voice speak or not?

can you give an option for example where spectators are the only ones that can spectate freely. just an option where u click a tick on it, so that you dont mix between
"team only and freely spectators" "team only and no spectators" if you know what i mean
