I've made a spitholder, that goes over the fireplace.
here's Pictures.
How do I get in contact with the other mod makers to ask permission. I've been working on my own mod, I based it on Massive Mod, and have added stuff from Lionhearted's Mod and Stranded 2.5. I was looking at adding some stuff from Stranded ext and maybe titanium.

My modeling skills are in the infant stage, this model borrows from the grill from MM and the spits from Lionhearted's Mod. I just removed everything I didn't need and enlarged the spits.

I based my script on the caldron just like in my oven.
the scripts are not included.

as before, I don't mind if you all want to use this model. Thats why I put it up.

first of all I dont know whether it's such a good idea to make these spitholders out of wood. wouldnt they burn pretty quickly? maybe you should use some different texture for them, like metal, and the player then has to craft them at a forge.

next I've seen that there are only 3 models, one with empty spitholders and two where all of them have spits with meat lying on them. but wouldnt that imply that the player needs to use 8 spits with meat at the same time to use these spitholders?
otherwise you'd need to make either make a lot more models with all different combinations of empty and filled spitholders (plus raw and cooked meat!) OR write some script that places the spithodlers each as single models in a circle (probably the best solution).

however there's still another poblem I see which is that both the models with spits and meat have about 5120 polygons which is way to much!
the empty spitholders only have 512 polys which is a bit high but still okay compared to that other number!
unfortunately I wasnt able to poperly convert the b3d models to ms3d this time, meaning that the models were broken when I opened them in milkshape 3d. there was always only one spitholder instead of 8 and at the models with the spits and meat there werent any polygons at these but just "empty" vertices (without the polygons between them to shape the model).

the b3d models worked for me but as I wasnt able to convert them properly I'm not able to show you the places with the main problems that cause these high polygon numbers...

Well, first off, I made them out of wood because I needed someway of cooking fast at the beginning of the game. I've already got my bread set so I can't make it until I have so much cooking skill and I need my oven. And I've made new recipes for my bread, so it will be harder to make.
I play a medium level that I designed myself where I have lions and I have to try to find a safe place to survive while I increse my skills. It takes me a while to build the forge, so I would starve before I got that far.

another thing. I only made 3 models because I'm not real good at modeling yet. you can put one spit on the fire and it will look like there is 8, and when it cooks it will look like there is 8, but there will still be only one. My code lets me put more then 8 spits on the fire anyways.
the difference in the meat is just so I can tell that it's cooked.

As for the polygons, I don't see how I can fix them. because, the original models have quite a few and when you multiply that, it becomes more. I tried mergeing the polygons but nothing happens.

I don't have milkshape so I don't know why it looks screwy there. I'm only using DeleD. and it looks fine there. and It works in the game.

I didn't know that the mods would not want me to open a new thread. How do I delete threads, or can I?

in my opinion this is not a good solution.
in this case I'd rather suggest making a model with only one spitholder and scripting it so that you can only cook one piece of meat at a time.
with this the cooking might take a little longer but at least you can clearly define how many pieces of meat you're cooking at the moment and how many of them are still raw/already cooked (in case you script it so that you then again can build multiple spitholders around one fireplace.

well, there is a free trial version of it, have you tried that one out? and if so, what do you think of it?

leave it as it is for now, just remember for the future.

or you could edit your first post in this thread and rename the title there to "Twilight77's 3d models" or something and then post your next models also in this thread.

I'm sorry you think that. I don't plan on making another model of just one spit. And I've just got the script working, and don't know how to script it to do only one piece of meat. Personally, I'm happy with it the way it is.

I give permission for anyone who wants to improve this model.

I was trying to fill in a void that I thought the game had.
same as with my oven.
