It actually depends on what type of game you want to make - If you want to start making a basic FPS, then Unreal Engine is the way to go, as an example.
Seekay has writtenBesides, Blender is free. Free game making programs are in the most cases retarded shit.
You have a point there. Now a days we have kids who are using such applications to make games, and they think that they actually made a game, when they didn't.
If you want to make a game, just learn a programming language, get an engine, and do it yourself.
