Its up to you on WHY you should buy a console. But from what I think, the PC wasn't built for gaming. But I have nothing against PC gamers and its really just depends on a persons opinion.

Alright, kids. Time for some knowledge

An emulator requires hardware 10x more powerful than the emulated device. It doesn't just have to run the ROM, it also has to emulate (hence the name) the hardware of the said device.
Many consoles have their own versions of graphics/sound handling drivers, the emulator must run those too.
We shouldn't forget about BIOS, which is required to emulate some, if not most consoles. While getting a Gameboy Advance BIOS or a SNES one might not be a problem, thanks to the ancientness of those consoles. Getting a 7th generation console BIOS is just impossible, unless someone found a way to somehow get it. As far as I know, that would require powerful hardware and excellent decryption skills, and also complete knowledge of the console's hardware. No one, except MS/Sony/Nintendo employes has that.
Someone did manage to get the original Xbox BIOS though

Why would you even need a PS3 emulator anyway? Most games today have a PC release.

Before you reply, i want to say, i am not talking about you.

I just hate when someone says "PCZ suck I haz ps3 4nd Ownz wh0le w0rld"

PC was not build for gaming ? Someone who owns PC and plays games is called Gamer. Not poor guy with PS3 or Xbox and 6 games.

@user Frost321: Oh, I know that. Didn't I say "PC gamers" above? lol. Well I have to admit, I am a PC gamer myself (Mainly I'm a CS2D Gamer). But for me, a gamer is a person who loves to play games and likes to enjoy them no matter what platform they play on. Anyway this is getting off topic.

Poor? Get some respect, kid. I have an xbox 360, but I am far from being poor. So shut up, PC fag.

I've seen some machinimas of it, it's about advocacy?

Btw, i've downloaded a nice Wii Emulator called Dolphin, it isn't buggy like all the other ones, running games smoothly.
Finally i'll able to play Monster Hunter again, since Nintendo bought it.

It is not always true I can run playstation1 games directly from my phone even though it is a budget phone so it isn't always 10x bigger. Amount of times more you need power is depends on how good your emulator/bios is and how complicated structure of emulated system. One more phone example: nintendo DS isn't very powerful game console however it can't be runned even on the most powerful android phones/tablets because there are no good emulator and DS's structure differs a lot with phone's one.

Well the game you were playing was probably already ported, and even if it were emulated-it probably wouldn't take much to emulate.

I had a ps1 emulator on my phone too, I believe. It lagged like hell, so your argument is invalid. It's a fact that you need a helluva of power to emulate consoles. Unless it's a 15+ device.

I've always found newer emulators to have problems when you try and use them on a PC.

I've used a PS1 emulator (ePSXe) which runs quite well for all ROMs that are used on it, along with the PS2 emulator as well.

User @user palomino: pretty much posted the parts which an emulator also requires to run. The hardware that is used in most consoles is different to PC hardware components (the only thing that does compare is the producers of the hardware) Even then, some emulators such as no$GBA and the MAME emulator run quite fine (and are a hell of a lot easier to port).

Only difference is, those consoles had an easier structure (so does the Wii, with only one processor, Broadway). While the PS3 has 8 cores, 6 of which are used for the actual processing, 1 for OS security related processes and a 1 spare core.
Not to say that Sony will club anyone who will be able to make a working emulator. If it is even possible, at least with the current PC hardware.

Except when it comes to the PS3 or PC and companies decide to port everything.

The PS3 also has 512MB of memory which is shared. 256MB is used as RAM while the other 256MB is used for Video Ram.

More like, Sony will file a million lawsuits at you and lose all your credit card details.

I'm sure it could be optimized to work with PC hardware. Although I don't know anybody who would put the time in to do so.

Geohot case much?
I believe that Sony got their hands on all Californian PayPal accounts, to find out who was dling geohot's jailbreak.

Geohotz was one person who was involved with the hacking. I was making a joke about the credit cards that got stolen (when anonymous hacked and stole them).
