@hador:
They use special polarisation, that is why you wear glasses, it only lets in light that is directed at it.

We won't be able to see a fourth dimension, namely because there is none.

Modern estimates calculate 10 spacial dimensions + time.
It'd be weird to see actively, but playing, perhaps, a puzzle platformer in 4d would be fun. And confusing.

Oh, and also, @Hador, Holograms.

They've had them for a reasonable amount of time now.

well all computer games are only 2d since it's just on the monitor, it's very flat.

Like I said: We're able to simulate a 3d world on a 2d monitor.
Shouldn't we be able to simulate a 4d one on a 3d projection?

@Bloodshot:
There is no fourth dimension in space, unless you include time, which does not occupy space so therefore doesn't count. There simply cannot be more than 3 physical dimensions.

Well we are living in the forth dimension, however we can't see all the sides of a 3d object and we can't move 4d+ or 4d- at will...

Again, modern estimates are 10 spacial dimensions. 4th dimensional creatures would have the same capabilities as us as to the 5th dimension, and 5th dimensional creatures... etc.

Edit:
@Danny 2D sapient: "Well, there just cannot be more than two dimensions, I mean, how would we even exist?"

Well we live in the 4d world (time) however we can only view objects in our 4d cross section. Just as drawings on a piece of paper live in the 2d world can only see a small cross section of a 3d object.

We might be living in a world with many more dimensions and only seeing an infinitely small 3d cross-section

Wait what do you mean with 4D creatures ? You wona tell me somewhere out there are 4D creatures more inteligent than us ?

it is not impossible to have four dimensions of space. It is just impossible for four-dimensional objects to exist in a three-dimensional world. Completeley impossible.

@hador, for your statement earlier about 3D, 3D has been around for the last 10-15 years and 3-5 years on monitors, or havnt you known about 3D TV's? They had made 3D TV's that can be used without glasses, before they realeased the one that you HAD to wear glasses, so to anyone saying that to see 3D objects on a 2D screen, must really of neem locked in a closet for 10 years

and 4th dimension? Isn't that meant to be the reverse dimension to this one? Or something to do with space.
Also hador your right but wrong with your last statement, 4th dimension = space/time whatever people say, space is apart of our universe, universe has space, space is 4th dimension, 4th dimension in our universe.

We'd only see a 3d-cross section of the 4d object. Imagine a sphere passing through a 2d plane.

Well to be honest, you can just define what the 4th dimension is.

Right now we're talking about 3D dimensions: {X,Y,Z} or {r,phi,rho}
You could define a 4D dimension like {X,Y,Z,{X,Y,Z}} or {X,Y,Z,t} or whatever. Fact is, you can only still see 3D.

And games right now are 2D not 3D, your only looking at a flat screen. It gives you the feeling that it's 3D.

4D theoretically.
Simply put, by adding a new dimension it multiplies all others.
In my opinion, 4D would mean that there is a parallel world, not a new dimension's coordinate.
This would make more sense, parallel world would actually make time traveling possible as well.
I'm getting too much geeky there. ehm*

They should rename all those theathers 5D because
wiki has written
the dimension of a space or object is informally defined as the minimum number of coordinates needed to specify each point within it.
