Why is this not an app yet?
Wouldn't it be a simple quick conversion?

Im sure many people would purchase it.

err.. okay.. what game(?) are you talking about?

for any Unreal Software game: no, it would not be a simple and quick conversion. it would require a complete recode from scratch. which takes forever.

how much time did cs2dmax take?

impossible to estimate that. I didn't count the hours / days I worked on it. it has over 50k lines of code though. would take months to recode this for iphone/ipod touch (if you want to have a version with all the features of the original one). I'm surely not going to do that

maybe a much more limited version but I'm currently not planning to spend 100 (?) usd per year just for the chance that the game MIGHT by released in the app store. yeah, you have to pay money to develop games for Apple hardware... Apple is BAD and absolutely not "developer-friendly"

oh and Apple would - of course - absolutely decline a Counter-Strike clone due to licensing/copyright and stuff. this means that it would have to have another name etc.

these things are not as easy as you seem to think

and then there's the the user interface

if ure gonna put all of cs2d's controls on a touchscreen then that would not be a very playable game. Probably better to strip down many things.

if someone does manage to make a good 2d fps game... It could get VERY popular

btw I recall there was a cs2d for psp or something

Sorry if I say something illegal, but (!). Let's talk about jailbreaking. It's bad and illegal but it has the awesome thing called Cydia. It is a shop where you can buy and download for free applications made by independent developers. Which is really neat. You could try to make this app for jailbroken iDevices.
I have always wanted to learn making iOS apps for Cydia, so now I would have a reason

I'm not going to develop anything that's for jailbroken devices only. that's wast of time.

why don't you do it if you think that it is such a good idea?

Cracked app? No lol, it's for people who want to create Indie games/apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch and can't afford to put it in the iStore.

It is illegal. That's why your warranty is void in case of a jailbreak.

• it IS illegal. All emulators are illegal
• this won't be "simple and quick conversion", because CS2D was written in BlitzMax and it support Windows, Linux and Mac ONLY

In the USA it is legal since 27.7.2010.
Now back on topic:
CS2D on iPod/iPhone would be sh*t, because of the controls. Even games desinged only for iPhones have sh*tty controls, now think about CS2D...

As far as I know, keyboards for iPhones do exist, but I think you won't bring a keyboard with you in the train or bus or car etc. to play CS2D.

I would purchase an App like that to try it out.

Edit:
Sh*t I clicked no .

Stranded would work fine on the iPad. It has a better and bigger screen than most netbooks. Ye, I am proud of having one
