i dont really follow your argument too well but this is what i get out of it. correct me if i am wrong
1. humans believe that God is perfect
2. humans also believe that God has attributes and that God did many things. because of this, what humans believe to be God is not perfect. (i do not understand how this is)
conclusion: God is not what humans believe him to be.

1. humans believe that god is perfect
2. this perfection is an idealization that is itself flawed. hence the act of defining god (has properties, does shit, whatever the case) => that if god is truly perfect, we can't define god

triforce dots : human idealization of god is not perfect, and hence we believe in a perfection that's a human synthesis. since we all have different idealizations of perfection, the most fundamental definition of god as "perfection" implies that everyone have different "gods". hence religion imposes several man-made constraints on what god is to enforce a singular belief in god. however we introduce more flaws with every constraint (god is benevolent, merciful, yet just) hence the ultimate conclusion is that a singular god cannot be perfect.

ps: i just delayed an onset of carpal tunnel by not bothering with the shift key, good policy flood imo

I am pretty sure religions are just illusions, in a way, they have been created for a reason. It's not like religion has always been there, therefor, that was my conclusion that we don't need a "god" to survive, in my theory it's a destructive way to force someones brain to be under control of that specific religion. It hurts ones independent thinking, that ability which makes us think rationally and not crazy, not saying that religious people are all crazy but I've got alot of examples, especially when it comes to islam, yet it's that religion which is the most extreme in comparison of all the other religions I've investigated through the time of my life.

Manipulation and religion goes hand in hand. I went to a church sometime 6-7 years ago or so (not that I wanted too) lol. But I was curious why it was even there, so I entered the church. The priest there was a bit random, but he sure felt dedicated to the church. None the less, all I really remember from the time being inside that church is the "box" yes box. The priest of the church had told me that Jesus was inside of that box. I was thinking very hard and long; "is he serious?" then I thought "maybe he is..." then I thought for the third time "this man is insane" lol. Even my friends laughed behind the priest's back and at the box, but yeah of course the priest had to tell us "don't laugh at Jesus inside the box" that right there was quite bizarre. I came to thinking that religion has never made sense to me, and it probably never will, most likely not, and that's why I think religion is just bad acting because that's all what it is about really. Why would I question a priest about the Jesus in the box? take a guess, I was curious and it felt rather strange to have a box containing Jesus inside of it if someone were to believe Jesus was inside of it in conclusion, I have one recommendation for you that'd be the mad house, religions simply aren't having a sense of humor, and also very often aren't serious themselves.

Some religious people can't even live up to half of the things mentioned in the Bible, such as praying, every day and night, and all the other religious activities such as going to church, as what real religious people should do if they really do believe in their god but apparently they're so religious that they aren't religious, or something like that, I find it weird, it's a thought that came to my mind... lol I've actually tried praying myself and seeing if something good came out of it but to my surprise, the result was nothing good about it at all, lol, it's useless. Even the definition of god just doesn't make 100% sense to me... I dislike the fact that people actually believe in this, would a normal religious person really believe that Jesus was inside of a box... yes it was a christian church that I visited. I mean, would you believe all that propaganda that church literally force on you in order to manipulate you? would you fall for it, or are you more clever than that? I also went to a hospital for a check-up, I went to the doctor for a diagnose and he was making several tests and in the end I was diagnosed as smart, I find that amusing, I'm just saying. This was my view of religion, thank you for hearing me out, or not.

i dont pray or go to church much either . i disagree many things with bible, but i still believe in god. i have bit of my own view about god.

btw saying that religions cause wars is bullshit. i don' know one religion that is fascist by itself. jesus was pasifist and spread the word for equal values and charity. only the church institution has been corrupted and evil i think.

Creation or Evolution is the past, you ain't gonna change that. Let's think about the future...

there is a past, but it is of no importance. what's important is what people think happened in the past.

1984 has written
Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past

The past is important. It's our record of failure, and like the progression of the universe, we succeed by a long and drawn out process of trial and error. Evolution is a fine example of this. Humans take this to a new level. We lie about the past to improve our present, but this gives false examples, so our future faulters because of it.

Whoever wastes humanity by rewriting the mistakes of old as successes or visa versa is surely not worthy enough to be one of our race if they are willing to pollute the truth and thereby hindering our progression for the sake of their own desires...

I'm in semi agreement. A good man speaks well and his words are frequently perverted for the purpose of domination and control, however, any form of segregation causes wars. If you think someone who is different is less useful or productive than you for any reason, your treatment of them will be not only a negative influence on their life, it will lead to negativity spreading through society from that point. That guy goes off and gives someone else abuse because someone disrespected him for a trivial reason and so the chain continues and spreads into a web. Religion is taking good words and building a structure of control, so yeah, ALL religion (no exceptions) causes wars cause people think their interpretations of the information available (not always factual) are right and will fight for that, but (if he did exist) Jesus just wanted us to work together and get along, so he truly is blameless for the inhumanity of man.

so its just the people who cause wars, not the idea behind religion. Sokrates and Platon have interesting views about this subject. i recommend studying them if you are interested

but this is going off topic>

from where did you get that idea about jesus? im pretty sure i can find verses in the bible which counter that... but that's not the point. Jesus did not come to get involved with human political affairs..

@lee: still don't understand..
apparently i am illiterate lol

You know what? I know people can be difficult at times but you gotta keep your head up, believe in whatever you like it's cool with me as long as you don't force religion on to people and as long as it's not used to manipulate a crowd into suicide bomb themselves. If that's a agreement lol, then sure you can believe in your religion. I was just expressing my views about it, it's not bad to believe in a god, it's just that my personal view of god is that god doesn't exist plain and simple. We all think differently but we should respect people's independent life view also being more tolerant to one another. I've talked to some muslims once and they're cool, it's not that we can't hang out cause of religion, I also hang with a christian, it's funny. But that's life.

However, you guys can believe in god or allah if you want. Have a merry christmas to you all, yes atheists celebrate christmas too. This would be the best way to end the topic, don't you agree? freedom of religion, freedom of speech. Just saying... just want to be nice because christmas is closing in on us.

Heh a peaceful ending to an ugly discussion.
I always notice how it's always (something religious) vs (something scientific) and suddenly a war breaks out. Or something like a little argument.
And KimKat, at least you're not one of those atheists who actually blurt out "there is no God!!!" in your face. Trust me; one did that to my face, and I believe he was a Neo-Nazi. Whether he just wanted to draw a swastika on his arm or something, I freaked.

Neither, Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Clint Eastwood are the rulers of this world. None can deny it. If you do not accept this then they shall lose faith in humanity and send a zombie apocalypse to destroy us all. Only me, my family, my closest friends (aka Unrealsoftware users that aren't trollers), and Gordon Freeman shall survive.
On-topic I'm not really sure. I was raised to believe in God, Jesus, and the Bible, and i do, but I don't know exactly what that religion is called. I know that some group of people that believe in the same thing are against female priests and homosexuality, so i'm not really sure. And just to be clear, I respect everyone's beliefs.

There isn't any proof as to whether all of this universe actually exists, we could all be a couple of radio frequencies that react to other radio frequencies, there is no proof to any concept of being or origin because we weren't there when the universe was created, so we cna only come up with theories. Anways, IDK, no point in fighting with other's beliefs, Merry Christmas all

Let me give you an idea about it... Let's say there are 2 the world's most ultra questions:

1- Who created the very first thing on the universe?
- Now you're 100% believer.
2- If it was god then who created god?
- Oh snap, you must be confused right now

Regarding question 1: this question leaves me speechless...
Regarding question 2: Whenever I think about it it get me confused like seriously, think of it logically god can't be have always there. there always must be a creater right? Oh wait, if there's always a creater then who created the very first god

Don't get me wrong, I leave in a muslim country where everybody are muslims, my whole family are muslims. I don't have the pride to say those questions to my family I mean like if I said those, they'll start doubting me...

Understanding the universe is just a pain in the ass that's why believing in god is a good thing, it just means you believe in luck and fate and always have a great confidence, It can be the opposite for (perverts), they always watch wat you're doing alone, they capture everything you do and register it on your book with your name on it, a true believer must believe in god and have all kind of reasonings to protect islam. thats who's going to heaven, what about sinners hmm, I think they're fucked on this case they need the forgiveness of god also don't think that just believing on god can get you to heaven itsn't that easy you know.

Why does someone always have to have created everything. Why can't it just be something - aka the Big Bang.

I don't understand why people have to think that someone created everything and is watching over us all the time. Give credit to protons, neutrons, atomic mass and dark matter already!
