did you extract/install the game? please do so.
when using vista/7: DO NOT extract/install to "C:\program files"

moreover make sure that you actually click "Okay" and not "Cancel" in the options window of CS2D.

also don't use weird characters in your name and don't make it too long.

CS2D will remove all weird/disallowed characters from your name and if nothing is left after that it will switch it back to "Player"
