Complaining about the forums aside, I must honestly say I am impressed with what Counter-Strike 2D has to offer. I've only started playing several days ago and I'm honestly stunned at the detail that has been put into this game. I was looking to this game thinking it would be yet another shoddy attempt at a 2D shooter, but when I started playing, I couldn't stop. Well done, you have turned an amazingly simple concept and mixed it with an amazingly addictive game.
However, that isn't to say there aren't a few bugs. Of course, they'll be fixed sooner or later, and I'm not saying this deters me from playing the game, but I figure you should at least be alerted to these bugs. If you don't know about them, you can't fix them, right?
Off the top of my head, at the moment of creating this topic, I can only think of two bugs. The first has to do with the dedicated server. I'm aware it's in the very early stages, but again, I'm only alerting you to the bug and giving feedback on the program. I first had trouble setting up the dedicated server, for quite a few reasons. The first being, you can't type within the dedicated server. This honestly through me off at first. Most dedicated servers allow you to input commands from the program itself, without having to go in game, log in as an remote console admin, and set the values you need through the in game console. Though, that brings me to my second beef with the dedicated server. I am registered on U.S.G.N. and I can connect to any game that requires a person to be logged in with U.S.G.N. However, if I try to log into my own dedicated server, I absolutely can not connect if I have the "U.S.G.N Members Only" option set. It tells me I haven't connected with a U.S.G.N. account. However, the game tells me I am indeed logged in. When I turn the setting off, I can connect, but it does not save my rank, as I am not logged in on my server. An odd bug in my opinion.
The second bug is quite smaller, but more annoying in my opinion. It has to do with the in game editor. Now, the editor itself runs fine, sage for closing without a prompt if you input values that the program itself can not handle. However, if I start or join a server, and I quit that server, if I click on the editor button, it'll close the program without prompting me. This gets annoying when trying to test a map, discovering you have to work on it some more.
Anyways, I'm done with my ranting. Overall, I give this game a mighty 9/10. Keep up the good work, and you'll easily bump it up my rating up to a 10.
I hate to be a bother though, is there any chance the forums will undergo an overhaul any time soon? I honestly find the forums to be rather confusing. If you want a list of what I mean, I'd be happy to supply you with one. A friendly list of course. =D
