2 replies What would people think of a CS2D Map Hosting Service where a new player map is provided for people to play on. I am aware that [TGV] provided this service for a limited time but sadly it is no longer available. This service was extremely helpful for people who are unable to host due to connection speeds/firewalls/traffic filtering/etc.
Here is an outline of how I would propose a system of this kind to work.
Selection Process:
1) The maps are selected from the 'Counter-Strike 2D - Maps' section of unrealsoftware.de
2) Any maps with a 1/2 star rating will be excluded from the draw.
3) The map will be selected based upon the highest score where 'score=(rating*votes)+downloads'.
Result:
Maps will be hosted for a 12hour period.
A map hosted can not be re-hosted within a 30 day period.
Server Details:
The server will keep default CS2D settings.
The server will automatically change the mode according to map type (AS/CS/DE=Standard CTF/DOM=Team Deathmatch ZM=Zombies) if no prefix is found it reverts to standard. This should help encourage proper map naming and ensure the maps are played as intended.
Optional Extra:
The currently hosted map is moved to the top of the Counter-Strike 2D - Maps section into a box named "Currently hosted" or similar.

we can still provide this, we've actually succesfully implemented it plus a votemap function (which came before DC's implementation) + a randomization map selection function but we had to change servers a few days after I finished the service and since no one really had much to offer for the maps, I discontinued it after the server switch. If you guys still want this or if anyone wants to see the map-selection addon, I'll be happy to re-implement them. I likey lots, who cares if there's only a few maps submitted. It just means that those who submit their maps get to play them more. I'm tired of dust on every server.
