in the editor, when you put a env_sprite, there is a option that says "mask mode (0,2,4)", i know that it is used to "cut" the colored background of the image to make cars, trucks, trees... etc, visible whitout the quare around, but sometimes i just cant use this feature

is there a especific RGB color code (ex: 0, 0, 255 = pure blue) for each mask type? and what are the colors that are cut as sprite background?

mask color is always black (0,0,0) for env_sprite. however you can also use pngs with transparent background.

the mask color for env_image is 255,0,255 (pink) afair.

to mask a sprite with black background:
• keep all default settings
• change blend mode to masked
• enter 4 in the mask textfield.

It's pretty confusing and weird because I tried to make it as compatible with old maps (from cs2d 0.1.0.4 and older) as possible..

Also for the entity env_image the alpha transparency color is purple and it doesn't have any mask modes that you can choose from. It changes the purple color into transparency automaticly. Although env_sprite is alot better because it can be adjustable by different sprite modes which makes a good use of the sprite.

env_image is good when u already have the image in the size u want, and so it dont loose resolution or quality

It's purple not pink, and the purple will turn transparent if you use the entity env_image in the right way.

But, env_image can't rotate

when i use env_sprite i see (Mask 0,2,4), 4 - "kill" the black color, but what do 0 and 2 ?

When you change to pink colour at background of picture, use MSPaint and save as PNG. Then, like normal use env_sprite and mask mode "4". If you save as BMP. the pink color not disappear. Because BMP for black background of picture.
